Random Crashes

Run XYplorer

I checked my INI for that setting and it was already set to 1... however, I'm happy to say it's been a full day since a crash. Also - I use it on my laptop with sftpdrive as well and the problem isn't there as far as I can tell. Maybe another app is conflicting?

Already set to 1...

That's not possible. I can only be set manually. So you or somebody else has set it before, or you are using the INI from somebody else.

Anyway, enjoy the non-crash...

Oh you're right - I just checked it on my laptop and it was 0... I really hope I didn't change it, recheck the forum and forget I changed it haha. I'll let you know if I can discover anything more specific. Thanks for all the help!

Just a thought, can't expect you to know exactly how this functions enough to know answer but..do you think that my problem could be caused by windowblinds? That's one thing I notice my laptop doesn't have but desktop does... and it hasn't crashed once on my laptop...

BTW: I -love- being able to preview fonts... just keeps getting better

How the &^%* did I miss this feature? This is going to save me LOTS of time. Damnit! And thanks for showing me this. (This should be added to the quick tips!)

Incidentally, the Font preview chokes on .TTC files. Possible helpful link: http://www.microsoft.com/OpenType/OTSpec/otff.htm

Chokes? TTC is not previewed format. Never heard of it. Can you send me one?

Good news... my random crashes problem is solved. I reformatted to clean things up a bit and reinstalled and it is solid, I love it

One question - when I right click on a file in a network location it takes anywhere between 5-30 seconds for the menu to come up. In explorer there is no delay - is there a setting I am overlooking that would fix that? Single click / selection is no problem, only right click.

Compare the menus. Is the one shown in Explorer maybe missing some commands?

Other than the top 3 items in the XYplorer list (To Clipboard, Rename Special and Move/Copy/Backup To) the menus are the same... It's almost as if it's getting information from the file in the background before displaying the menu or something. It isn't a big deal when the server the networked drive belongs to is speedy, but unfortunately for me that's not always the case.

Please uncheck "Custom items in shell context menu" (conf/advanced) and see if it makes a difference.

I did that and noticed the 3 items aren't there anymore, but no difference in the time it takes for the menu to appear. The files this happens to are remote, so it would make sense for it to take time to appear if it needed to retrieve them or anything... my local network drive files right click menu appears instantly.
