If that's a bug it's a good bug especially if I can't eventually get the controls to show on the status bar. There are so many tweaks in their tweaking tool exec file associated with the K-Lite codec packages, that I wondered if there's some setting that I can change to get the controls to show.
Is there no way you can get the same controls (simplified) that always work consistently in the Preview Tab for all video files to also work on the status bar. I guess what I'm saying is, you do have them working consistently for all video types on the Preview Tab, could the same code logic be applied to the status bar when the Preview Tab / Info Panel is not is on?

Re: video and foto control
Don, I noticed the other day that with the Preview Panel open playing a video (with no Info Panel and no controls showing), if I then open the Info Panel (which happens to be in the Preview Tab), the video continues to play seemlessly and uninterrupted as expected. However, if I close the Info Panel, the video playing in the Preview Panel not only stops, but the video is no longer even shown in the Preview Panel (i.e., the Preview Panel goes blank). It doesn't seem like that should be expected or possibly it's a bug so I posted it in this Q & A thread. It seems a bit odd that the video would stop playing especially considering that going the other way, opening the Info Panel does not disturb the video playing in the Preview Panel at all.

Do you have this enabled:
Configuration | Preview | Preview | Audio/Video preview | Keep playing when info panel is hidden

Thanks Jupe, that was it. I've always had it enabled previously and I must have disabled that setting when testing for the previous posts in this thread.

Thanks for taking the time to test the video files I sent you. I'll have to take some time this week to adjust settings. I looked at WMP settings and adjusted some but saw no change. You'd think there would be others in a similar situation with Windows 10 Pro x64 with the K-Lite Video Codec installed. I say that only because there are many threads discussing the use of the K-Lite. Actually, I didn't have the controls before I installed K-Lite either. If I have no success with tweaking settings, I'll uninstall the K-Lite Codecs and and even remove the Media Player Classic- Home Cinema and check the results. Thanks Don.
