Same cause as the first thumbs bug: stupid programming. :)

Indeed both bugs were brothers and now I'm sure as can be that this brotherhood is history!

Hehe, I didn't really care much for those brothers either ;)

You seem quite surprised by the turnaround time to fix a big, true? Well, so was I the first time I had a bug! That fact alone made me become such an advocate of X...The quickest elapsed time from a bug reported here to fix announced on that bug thread (that I recall recently) was about 40 minutes...there may have been one with less time, but I can't think of one...

BTW, I found your smilies quite funny!
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Hehe, I have quite the collection that I like to drag out for special occations ;)

Surprised by the turnaround time? Well, I am a that but for the most part I'm just very impressed! See, a while back I exchanged a few mails with Donald regarding another bug that would affect very very very few people, but even that was fixed right away!

EDIT: I should add that I have now tested the latest beta of Xyplorer, and the thumbnail bug would appear to be fully fixed. Oh yeah, now I'm ready to xyplore my wallpapers once again Image

Re-sorting while thumbnail caching

Post by infimum »

Reusing an old thread.

First thing: v6.70.011, Vista32bit, thumbnail caching on.

When I re-sort (or probably other actions too) thumbs while the caching is being created, the thumbs for which cache hasn't been created at that point don't show their image. Now, the whole chaching process proceeds fine, but the images continue to be missing. Then, when I toggle back to the thumnail view, those images show up fine

Can this be easily fixed?

I admit the bug, but I'm quite sure it does only happen when you re-sort. So it was easy to "fix": I now don't allow sorting during thumb creation. Or do you find this extraordinarily dissatisfying?

No, it's not an important issue. And just for your information, I tried to delete a file while chaching. But I could do so only after caching was done.

I found another issue with mp3 previewing. I made these problematic mp3 files with Windows Media Player v11. The player automatically downloads 2 or 3 images of CD covers and a file called "desktop.ini" which I think has to do with the WMP music library. When I try to preview these mp3 files with XY, it carshes. Deleting these extra files doesn't solve the problem. Other music players can play these mp3 files fine with the extra files deleted or not.

Now, I have a feeling that this problem is specific to my environment. Does anyone else have this problem?

Can you send me one of those files?

Here you go. 37MB of Sonny Rollins. Enjoy

N.B. The image and .ini files have the "hidden" attribute.

Hmm. It might be specific to Vista and WMP v11. But it's strange that simple tasks such as playing mp3 files are that different. It's likely that the problem is on my side. What could it be? Hmm.

Yeah me, but testing files don't crash XY.
UPDATE: XY doesn't crash but cannot preview the songs. It only displays a message "Cannot decode" on preview panel. Songs are reproduced just fine by WMP11 though.
Just another proud XYplorer registered user.

Arrgh. But you can play other MP3s?
