On top is the default style (M1.5default), with an orange up line as well, also it turns orange when tabs are hovered too.
It's nice and a little soft 3D style and all, and the orange bar helps to notice the active one quick.
The first Maxthon style is infact the standard XP tabs style. I will offer this, too.

I plan to offer these:
(1) classic XY tabs (as they are currently)
(2) standard XP tabs (as in your Maxthon shot, with orange bar...); I might this make the default even, just as I changed the column headers to XP style, and just yesterday started to change the control borders to XP style...
(3) new XY tabs (similar to firefox tabs)

Note: With OS < XP or "classic design", you will get only (1) and (3).

I'll try to find a way to make (3) colorable... if it does not happen you can still fall back to style (1).

I re-meditated about that, I though I'm not as obsessive as you, I found it's worth trying to shrink the headers by 1 pixel.

BTW, the row height is 17 pixels, not 16 (at least here using Tahoma 8).

:( So...after all this, I don't get to even try out the new style to see if I might like it, as I'm W2K? Those rounded tabs with a bit of separation looked interesting, but I was just concerned about the stripe.

Arggh, my nonsense :roll: . You'll get (1) and (3). (I just edited the post)

Sounds pretty great to me ! :D

"very nice" :)

Tahoma here too, but with this:

Code: Select all

; Tweak: increase tree/catalog/list row height in pixels
TreeItemDistY=-1
CatalogItemDistY=-2
ListItemDistY=-1
17 is too much, I found it better with 16. Still not too "packed", it can breathe, and I got more info on one screen which is alwyas good :)

Tab Placement

Loving the new UX Theme support in XY - and now tabs.

But I have a couple of very minor cosmetic issues (not sure if this is due to the particular theme I am using - although tabs in other apps look fine).

First problem is there appears to be a 1-2 pixel border under the tabs (not present in any other app).

2nd there appears to be a slight overdraw of the line under the tabs (see screenshot).

Very minor just seems strange they are only present in XY otherwise Theme support is a great forward leap (cosmetic only but XY is looking good :D ).

Cheers

Slight Overdraw...

Other Apps - no border under tabs...

It's there because I have tree and list under the tabs. It would not look good without the border. Or? (and remember that folks might choose UX tabs together with non-UX beveled borders -- even this should work to some extent.

slight overdraw of the line under the tabs: that's on purpose -- I find it convincing like that.

As a Zen man, I'm always open for "less is more". I removed the dark bottom line. Keep ver 6.30.0036 and compare it with the coming version. I think it's clearer/cleaner now.

EDIT: another thing: is anybody interested in the tabs Hover-effect?? I know, it is standard theme behavior for tabs... but I personally find it slightly silly... I feel over-feedbacked... so I did not yet add it. How expected is it??

Personally, I don't think you gain anything by adding tab hover effects so I wouldn't worry about it :)

Truth be told, I'm still using the XY classic and am not sure if I'll switch yet... that being said, I'm a sucker for hover effects myself. That's actually the only reason I'm using the XP style, to get hovered feedback over the controls.
So yeah I'd vote for it, to me it feels like something's wrong/unresponsive when there's none

Will compare the next version with current.

Re. Tab Hover Effects -not a major factor, but would quite like to see tab hover effects implemented.

Don,

Thanks mate - Tabs look much cleaner and tighter in the new version.

Appreciate the quick response :D
