Check out PFA (Portable File Associations) in the help file.
It allows you to override the OS standard app to open a file with a XY specific one (or even a few different ones to choose from).

No, it's not what I want.
I want to use Universal Viewer for previev pane - it supports many files and using it to preview can extend XYploer...

Afaik that's not possible. Take a look at Quick View Plus... The 32-bit version works fine with XY in the preview pane (apart from .msg files)

It should work automatically once it is installed

Very nice can be preview tar and gz files - Qucik View Plus it wiews correctly.
In all - is possible to import QVP plugins into XYplorer and use them to preview? It supports more than hundred filetypes.
Thank you.

If QVP offers a preview handler (a shell extension) that can be accessed via a GUID, then yes.

CLSID for the preview handler: {8B1E92F5-AC8E-4DAB-9804-3C01AA112F17}

Thanks, but, whoops, just I had only implemented this GUID tweak for MSG files preview.
Anyway, if you (MIRKOSOFT) put your desired extensions into "Office Files" it should work (= use the QVP preview handler).
