It still works pretty well with V6, but I expect the further support of some other editing tools except XChange. It's not about Acrobat - I know how challenging it would be to implement here for sure - but something more stable and faster. For example, I use this tool for personal purposes https://pump-it-up-job-form.pdffiller.com/ it's a paid one, but its price way lesser than for any other one and features are the same, so it would be good to be added to XY in that fashion to not only preview the PDF documents but also annotate them

Are you saying this works in Windows File Explorer but not in XYplorer?

I'm trying to do exactly this...but some 6 years later since the OP so will this guide still apply now?
I'm glad to use any portable pdf viewer necessary, as long as it's portable.

In general, it should.

Problem: Without adding an account on the PDF-XChange website you can't download old versions of PDF-XChange Editor v6.
I didn't create one just to try that out, though

Oh? Ok so it will only work with v6 of XChange then? I have no problem creating an account and downloading the older version if that's what's required.
Just wondering though, since then, is there an alternative for previewing pdfs in XY or is this still the only solution?

Em, the very first post states: THIS DOES ONLY WORK WITH THE V6 VERSION, THE NEW V7 WAS FUNDAMENTALLY REVAMPED AND IS NOT SUPPORTED!

Sumatra PDF portable (even the x64 version) works fine as well (requires libmupdf.dll, PdfFilter.dll, PdfPreview.dll and registering PdfPreview.dll and PdfFilter.dll)

Sumatra sounds complicated, I'll give PDF-XChange a try...with v6!
