Those checkboxes control if XYplorer previews the files or not, NOT THEIR ASSOCIATIONS. And that's why the icon didn't change.

highend was trying to figure out if the file was locked because it was being previewed in XY.
Anyway, you should **calmly** describe exactly what you're doing and how you're doing it, start to finish, including any steps that might be relevant to XY.

OK I take your word for that but do not understand why that could be so. I generally to not spend time on de-buging programs. My fault.

As a rule I am pretty calm. I can not add anything to what I have already stated.
Except - it does bug me that I can NOT reproduce the problems now.
I have noted that there has not been a bunch of 'cat calls' and piling on.
