I was in agony yesterday watching a coworker rename a handful of files to relieve them of the same prefix. They painstakingly clicked on each one and selected Rename from the context menu, then tried to use the mouse to get the prefix perfectly selected.

I must admit I was shocked when they didn't use the context menu to delete the selected text.

Granted, I also had a different coworker comment about how difficult my very colorful file list was to read the other day, so who am I to talk?

Hilarious and frightening. Makes you think they might be aliens in human disguise. Shudder.

A big thank you, guys, for the big laugh you gave me with this. I needed that. Thx!

I always use only right hand, not to mention, I can not use F2, it is used as a shortcut for something else. I generally avoid using keyboard, unless typing is required, it is way more comfortable this way. :cup: Well nevermind, I switched to 32-bit anyway, it is way faster and there are other devilish problems with 64-bit.

I always use only right hand, using left hand is complicated, not to mention, I can not use F2, it is used as a shortcut for something else. I generally avoid using keyboard, unless typing is required, it is way more comfortable this way. :cup: So I guess, no Rename option anytime soon then. :|
You can easily set a right-hand only shortcut (say, CTRL+\, Or even) for the Rename action. Tools > Customize Keyboard Shortcuts.

There is also a toolbar button available for Rename.

I think you meant to type "Mesh" somewhere there. (Or did Mesh manage to make a sentient, self-replicating ctxmenu64 ?)
admin wrote:Ha, LOL. My counter-typo. Yes. Mesh...
Would you be willing to post here when Mesh has the new version ready, please? Thank you very much (in advance).

Cheers,
Jeff

Which I use a lot. But most useful for me are all the options under File>Rename Special.

You know, I don't think I've ever right-clicked on that button. Cool! I *still* learn something every day. (I made a custom toolbar button that sits right next to the stock Rename button that has all the Rename Special options.)

Cheers,
Jeff

In XY trying a right-click is often good for a nice surprise. Only a few XY screen pixels do not pop anything useful. :)
