Actually, I think you saw a screenshot of mine and decided to make that adjustment off your own back Don
I had noticed that a lot of information was duplicated in the status bar however - so why not just cut it down a bit? Disk info on the left and selection info on the right make more sense to me as tree is left and list is right...

Ah yes, the screenshot... hard to find with a text search
So, "cut it down a bit" -- alright, but cut what part where? Whenever I show my knife, somebody starts screaming...

Just for the record, my problem with the statusbar was that i own a screen with 1680x1050 resolution, and always use all apps with a width around 800. Since that's half of the with of the screen, i don't get half of the status bar. Thus, i can't even hover over the last part of the statusbar to get the tooltip.
So, i have to go against my previous post: i don't support removing that info from part1

And to be a bit more constructive

Why do you absolutely want to remove some part of the info shown?
As I said previously, it looks to me that both first sections could be made smaller without the need of removing anything, as they now show some empty/unused space, resulting in info on last section being cut off, if that last section is shown at all!

That the statusbar sections were illsized on larger screens, was actually a bug that I just fixed. (So the discussion here was at least worth something.

)
I absolutely want to remove some part of the info shown, because on
my screen (1024x768) the last section is simply too small when I use High Tree.

Did you see the screen shot that I put as update to a prior post here? That's on a 1024x768 with High Tree active, and it's got plenty of room in the current layout! But as stated before, there does seems to be a number of empty/unused pixels in both sections 1 & 2 that could be moved to section 3 and still retain the fractional info that I highly depend on and use often.
Removing the word "items" from section 2 would be acceptable, however.

The space is used when hiding HIDDEN items, and/or using a Visual Filter, and/or selecting all items, and all this in a list > 1.000 items with lots of bytes.

Ok...so...could the fractionals be dropped only when there isn't enough room to fit results in that values defined section space? And possibly same with "items" as first to be dropped when needed, as it uses 6 char pos.
And then make the space used for each section a percent of total so that dropping occurs evenly for all three fields...
This would allow it to look same as now for most all cases that I might see...yet for those occasions as mentioned, it would then be reduced to fit as much as possible..

But this will raise "Huh"s in new users I think...
I drop this topic now. A bug fixed and 20 pixels saved is something.
