Yes, sure, I am fine with it.
I figured you probably had good reasons for <curext> and even <cursize> - so it seems safer to mirror that, to anticipate issues with whatever reasons there are for the other two. But right now, I don't need it.

That's historically explained: <curext> is much older than getpathcomponent.

But you are right. Some symmetry is always nice.
