Missing icons using Windows 8.1

1) Your XYplorer Version (e.g., v28.00.0801)
2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).

unfortunately, Konfuzius' tips didn't work for me. thanks for the help though.
I also tried to revert to a standard winodws theme as you suggested and wiped the icons cache manually but still get the blank icons.
see new screenshots below (left is XYPlorer, right is win Explorer showing correct icons.). note that I'm usin Win 7 x64 (not win 8.1)
