I had this issue after doing a lot of moving of media. It seems to work until you restart using the X.
Not saving changes to the tag database that were caused by moving within XYplorer should be considered a bug and should be fixed. I lot a lot of tagging because of this.
Really... not saving any tag changes by default on exit is not understandable.

Should you mean the X-button on the toolbar - this one's called "Exit without Save". Seems natural for it to not save anything.
Otherwise I assumed that tags are also covered by "Save settings on exit" under Config > Startup and Exit - you got that enabled?

I must agree, it is still kind of buggy. I have that 'save on exit' enabled but frequently have tags disappearing. Especially when moving/copying items.

I would adventure a wild guess and say he means by clicking the 'x' icon in the top right corner

...isn't that the way 90% of the planet shutdown a running program?

The "restart" in "restart using the X" makes it a little confusing...
Whatever, can anybody show me a move where tags are lost? I can't find one.

Very simple, I can lose tags all day by simply copy/pasting a folder to another location. The folder gets copied but not the tags/comments (BTW, I'm really actually talking about my comments being lost rather than tags but I'm guessing the behavior should be the same, right? i.e. comments should be maintained when copied just as tags should)

do you do this copy/move outside XYplorer?
ed. copy operations only, eh? Is this checked: Tools > Configuration > Tags > Copy tags on copy operations ?

Sammy, hehe, you asked me that same exact question in this very thread (4 jan)! My answer was and still is no, I did all copy/cut/paste within XYPlorer

Aaah Sammy, u da man! You did it again!! Thanks so much, that option was in fact disabled, I ticked it, tried a cut/paste and comments were preserved!! :-) (can't imagine why anyone would want that disabled?)
I love this XYProrer also for that, there always seems to be an instant fix to everything! (with help from the right people of course ;-))
Cheers and thx again! :-)

1) It bloats the tags database.
2) It suggests that tags somehow "physically" go with the files which is not the case. It just bloats the tags database.
Anyway, since this (not copying tags) seems to surprise too many users recently I decided to turn on "Configuration | Tags | Copy tags on copy operations" by factory default. 15.20 will have that.
