Re: mouse-down blow up enhancment
Hm, IMO it's good like this. I use this value since long for clicks on thumbnails. It's time proven.

Re: mouse-down blow up enhancment
Honestly, I forgot those "on right mouse down" options were there, and have never used them. I was expecting a right-click on an icon to bring up the context menu (rather than the blow-up), just as happens with thumbnails when the right mouse down options aren't selected. But for consistency I suppose it should also honor the other right mouse down options if they are selected.admin wrote:. . So you say it should honor the settings at the bottom of Configuration / Thumbnails?

Excellent Don
May I suggest something - with MDBU, arrow keys and mouse scroll wheel takes you the next file. Don't know the feasibilty, but it would be so lovely to have that.

Great enhancement to an already terrific tool!
Now regarding mouse-down blow up in general, I risk a wish, it's something that's been bothering me from the beginning:
— Could there be an option to open MDBU previews centered? (with the mouse cursor hidden if you find it misleading).
This makes even more sense now with MDBU on tiny icons, to avoid off-center popups with cursor overlaid....
Thanks,
Flux

Not sure what you mean. Centered in/over what? Actually I had the impression that they ARE centered now. At least that was my intention.FluxTorpedoe wrote:Now regarding mouse-down blow up in general, I risk a wish, it's something that's been bothering me from the beginning:

Re: mouse-down blow up enhancment
Geez, sorry I wasn't clear, I definitely need more sleep!admin wrote:Not sure what you mean. Centered in/over what?
Currently, (left click) MDBU previews are positioned according to the point of click on the thumbnail/icon, which makes perfect sense theoretically, since the mouse movement on the thumbnail determines the preview position on screen. Though obviously this is not exactly the case anymore with icons since they're too small (but they remain nicely centered around the point of click).
But this means that most of the time on a practical level, MDBU previews will open off-centered (screen-wise) and mainly off-screen, because their thumbnail or icon is located near the border/edge of the screen, and the mouse-click wasn't precisely aimed at the center of their thumbnail.
Hence my question: would it be possible to have an option to open MDBU previews centered on screen — regardless of their thumbnail/icon position, and regardless on the mouse point of click?
Sorry for being so long, I hope I was a bit clearer...

Re: mouse-down blow up enhancment
I understand now, I think. Only that I also think that I have done this job already. At least here, the blow ups of icons are always centered over the original file icon, independent of the exact mouse down position.
Maybe you can post an image file where it does not work?

Yes, working here too as intended.admin wrote:the blow ups of icons are always centered over the original file icon
The problem with that approach is that the thumbs/icons are rarely at the center of the screen but near a side, so the MDBU previews open up with most of the image out of one side/corner of the screen, e.g. clicking a little too low on the thumb of a portrait will popup only showing the neck of the person with the rest of the portrait outside the top of the screen.
It's hard to make an explicit screenshot since the MDBU hides the thumbs, so I clicked on the very bottom-left of the thumb on purpose. As you can see, the wallpaper opens off-centered on the top-right with only the bottom-left visible — intellectually logical, but not very practical...
Spending a lot of time with photos, I can say it would be a real relief!
Well, hoping that it's a little bit less confusing this time...

What about this option then:
Configuration | Preview | Mouse down blow up: | Shrink to fit

Re: mouse-down blow up enhancment
I have it mapped to the right mouse button already.
Nice too, but for a different use since the image may be quite reduced in this case.
My wish may seem odd, but you've no idea how many necks and feet I have seen — and how many kilometers my mouse have traveled subsequently...

Re: mouse-down blow up enhancment
If I understand it right I see it so: if the picture is centered to 'some position', and so reaches out of the window, it should be repositioned to keep inside as long as possible.
Or did I understand it wrong?

Re: mouse-down blow up enhancment
Yes, but I would say to do it all the time, even if it's a small image that already fits the screen.
The option would be a radio button.
Mouse down blow up opens preview:
• Centered on cursor if icon / Aligned on cursor if thumb [current behavior]
• Centered on screen (*) [my wish]
(*) or window if "Use whole screen" is off (having this always on, I'd forgotten about it).
i.e. no matter where the mouse-click is done on the thumb/icon, and no matter where the thumb/icon is located on screen:
the full-size image would pop up perfectly centered on the screen, with its center exactly at the center of the screen; I don't know how to phrase this otherwise…
Then, any mouse movement would drag the image all around or outside the screen as usual — with the difference that it would have started from the center of the screen.
The option would be a radio button.
