Yep. It's terrific, really. Something like Stencil was missing - for the less color-crazy, like me and myself.

I like interfaces that remain subdued in the background, quiet, muted, sober, toned down. Helps me to focus on the task at hand. The centerstage with its thumbnails or whatever else gets the spotlight. Controls step back.

Was afraid it would slow down the overall handling of XY. Not the case, not at all - I don't notice any discernable delays.

Which makes me ask: What about offering a black & white (grayscale) version of the (mostly toolbar) icons? I could do that easily (I think -- needs a little testing) on-the-fly.

So we'll have two different iconsets? great!

While testing you could probably do ^that too! GO Don!

+1, anyway. I hate using external exes, but the visual appeal is just too great for me to ignore it (sorry, Sammay - thanks, Sammay!).

Slightly offtopic, does somebody has the list of these icons in in .ico or .png format.

I am all for it. Adobe's Lightroom comes to mind, or Presonus' Studio One.

As much as I'd enjoy boarding Sammay's magic machine after every XY-update, having the control tower outside the exe would offer new heights of user customization.

HM, no need to be sorry, I myself did this just for some healthy design shuffles...
nerdweed, do you mean the icons used by default in XY, or the sources in my submitted sets?
I agree with Stef, I've been asking for it since that post in Show Off Your XYplorer topic... let's wait for Don's work.

I'm not talking about a 2nd set. The plan is to remove the colors just in time, pixel by pixel, you know. I can do that.

Bit of a downer, to be honest. Was getting all revved up on the idea of grabbing the steering wheel myself instead of shifting into another automatic gear. But of course, I'll run with I can get.

Will this "desaturation" mode affect all TB-icons within XY - even those that are read from external sources?

Only all icons NOT read from external sources. Well, maybe not a good idea after all.

Updated with Paper Folders icons.

Nuvola
nuvola.zip
(257.93 KiB) Downloaded 228 times
Stencil
stencil.zip
(157.62 KiB) Downloaded 220 times
These updates still do work with some earlier versions. (because the skin image dimension didn't change)

Thanks Sammay for the XYskinner. I never got around to trying out the update until now. I noticed a couple of small issues but other than that it executes fine and looks great. Hopefully we get some artists to draft up some new skins.

I have the 3 menu items appear - Default, Nuvola, and Stencil - when I select a new skin (e.g., say I'm currently using "Nuvola and I select "Stencil"), but I select to "Cancel" in lieu of "OK" to proceed, the script still changes the skin to "Stencil". So it looks like it doesn't matter if I select "OK" or the "Cancel" button they both change the skin though I'm not sure what's happening in the background. I noticed the same issue in another script awhile back due to the setup of the "If / Confirm".

I noticed there's a separator line showing up after my 3rd and last skin with nothing below it other than a small vertical space to the bottom of the menu. It probably shouldn't be there (i.e., I suppose the script should recognize that no separator is necessary after the last skin displayed.

I was just curious if you could have hidden the Console Window from displaying rather than telling the user not to mess with it. In general, at least for users that have experience with the script, the less dialogs to contend with and the faster the skin change-over the better (similar to the theme changes). Possibly options to disable some messages for experienced users.

Thanks again for an unbelievable script,
Ken
