Ah, I used to use Emacs with VM for all my email and Gnus for my newsreader. Those were the days...

I use Postbox and like it very much. I ask very little from an email program but Postbox solved a very serious problem for me. I used only SeaMonkey for my browser/email before and really liked it UNTIL a version change came along which caused the font to change as I was typing away and since I am not a typist and have to look at the keys, I never see the problem until I look at the screen.

This was a well known problem but many users have never experienced it. There were actually two forums that discussed this problem and there were additions every day. Someone suggested that I try Thunderbird and my second line of my first email displayed the problem. SeaMonkey and Thunderbird are cousins and their DNA is now the same.

Anyway, along came Postbox, I tried it and liked it because there was no font changing so I bought it. I think it was 40 or 50 U.S. dollars but I felt it was worth it. Now they practically give it away. Like XY, the license is good for all of my computers and like XY I only use about 1% of the program's capabilities.

For me, it was a great find.

Yeah, pretty unfair to do it without any prior announcement.

Unfortunately development has ceased over the last year but the software itself is quite stable and does what it should.

I agree. As I mentioned, although it has more features than I will ever use, it's the only email program that I am happy with.

Pay for dead software? Well, your choice.

Currently on em Client...

Sogo connector doesn't work with Postbox (even after editing the install.rdf file) so there is no CardDAV sync available for it *damn*

em Client pros:
Excellent inbuilt CalDAV / CardDAV support
I'm using Fruux as my Calendar / Contacts / Tasks provider and syncing those things is really a snap

Cons:
No conversation view *sigh* Planned since years...
No quick reply (from inside a message)
Can't be started into the system tray directly
Aliases aren't as sophisticated as in TB / Postbox

Interesting. And the reason why an e-mail client shouldn't be able to create / sync
calendars / contacts / tasks is?

I have multiple devices and I need these things in sync and as much integrated as possible...

... that my e-mails have nothing to do with my schedule. Why would I want to integrate them?

Rainlendar serves me well for syncing calendars.

Obviously there isn't any reason...

(and I schedule events from my e-mails^^)
