On a strange note in my experimenting, I found out if I change that prop command to <prop Pages:> Pages with the colon after Pages with or without the *, the property box for every PDF file in the folder is displayed.

Re: CC property for number-of-pdf-pages?
I'm using PDF-Xchange viewer, but I'm unable to see the pages for any of my PDF files using the snippet. I do see the pages for doc files so something is working and the CC is configured properly. It also doesn't work if I simply use a standard property for pages in lieu of a CC. Could I be missing some other setting for this? PDF X-change viewer works fine for everything else (e.g., thumbnail display, etc.).

*Pages will only work in English Windows. In German Windows you would use *Seiten.
Whoops, wow. Gonna check...klownboy wrote:On a strange note in my experimenting, I found out if I change that prop command to <prop Pages:> Pages with the colon after Pages with or without the *, the property box for every PDF file in the folder is displayed.![]()

I can't seem to upload to Imgur right now.... But it's exactly like the above screenshot, except I changed the commas to semicolons in the filter box...gks wrote:@kunkel321
could you please share a screen shot what values you had put while creating the custom column
EDIT: Blah. After posting that, I did find a .docx file that is not getting its number of pages calculated...

Thanks Don, confirmed Beta 14.00.0004 takes care of the <prop Pages:> Pages issue. I still can't get the actual pages to display using PDF X-Change Viewer for what ever reason. The pages are displayed in the "PDF Information" tab of that Properties dialog. I'll try it on my Windows 8 desktop.

Re: CC property for number-of-pdf-pages?
Would be cool if the page-count (for pdf or where-ever applicable) would be cached (whether originally retrieved by help of 3rd-party or not).
Right now it quite often is a PITA to me when XY hangs for a moment (sometimes 2-3 seconds) when navigating to folders with a number of (and "too" big?) pdfs.
BTW, I do know of the different settings for "Trigger".
Right now I have "List: Column is triggered when the items are listed. Only the currently visible items are processed. This option will be much faster than "Browse" on long lists, but the scrolling will be not as smooth."
But XY still hangs for a moment as mentioned above.
"Click" is no option in this case for me.
Thx.

That delay is not specific to CCs only, XYplorer ALWAYS re-reads ALL metadata when visiting a folder.autocart wrote:Would be cool if the page-count (for pdf or where-ever applicable) would be cached

Re: CC property for number-of-pdf-pages?
only giving some feedback here:
It seems to me that browsing with a custom column containing
return property("#148", <cc_item>);
is a little faster than if it contained
return property("*Seiten", <cc_item>);
In the company where I work at, we have a rather slow server too, I think.
