Incidentally, I added the ">t" to see if it would work, and to have it in place for whenever it would eventually work, per this thread:

Yes, that was it.
I changed something (made it more robust against user errors), so it won't happen again.

John Bee wrote:But wouldn't the date you did the backup be more appropriate :?:

That Ctrl-shift-D is really nice to do a quick backup and I would use it more often if it did the date of the backup.
In case of folders, I think so too.

But what would be a cool way of changing the status quo?
Ctrl-shift-D -> mod date
Ctrl-Alt-D -> backup date

?

j_c_hallgren wrote:But given that there is a menu option to "Go to applic folder", which then selects XYplorer in the tree (in most all cases), why can't Cntl+Shift+D (and Cntl+D also!) operate when used from tree instead of just the list?
Is that what Don meant in his comment ( :idea: ) about shortcut? :?
Yeah, that's exactly what he meant by :idea: :D

I'd maybe say instead of "Send that copy to the XYplorer support by email.":
Send the copy by email to support@XYplorer.com.As "to the support" is a bit odd...and agree with the "as follows"...

8) That'd work just fine, IMHO! Would easily allow us users to pick our choice...

Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Yep, but the d&d context menu would get 2 items more again... it's starts being a monster.
I also wonder if yet another choice is not making it all over-difficult. maybe a one-time decision (mod date / backup date) is better? (checkbox in config)

I'm a bit confused :? ...why would it get TWO more items? I see a total of 12 entries on present menu, (which is far less than some other context menus, and compared to 32 in history!), and Cntl+shift+D being one of 12...
so wouldn't Cntl+Alt+D just be one more making it 13? Am I missing something obvious? :oops:
And compared to config opt, this would allow choice to be make on file level basis, so one might do mod date for file #1, and backup date for file #2...not as easy to do if config opt, right?
And I'd be more likely to use keyboard for this so context menu doesn't play that much into it...

Bear with me...it's 4:30am here...I don't see any present entry in menu for 'move with suffix date'...just copy...and anyway, compared to the 31 entries (from both XY and my other installed stuff) on right-click when I'm in tree, doesn't seem that much...

Update: NOW I see it...hadn't moved mouse far enough before...still not that big of a menu! :oops:

You were too quick to reply...see my "update"

In any case, then...make these 8 or 10 on move/copy sub-menus as that would be consistent with your standard right-click menu on list entry...and might make it easier to find as less nbr of choices...

Hi Don;

Ya, ya, I love choices. This sounds just spiffy!

PS. so far, XY 5.20.0000 has solved ALL my scrolling problems. You did an absolutely splendid job fixing this, thank you very much!

I didn't manually edit the INI file! I used the interface to make the change that screwed things up. Here, I thought you'd add an edit to prevent incorrect changes from being make through the interface to begin with.
