Here!
It's like in any text-editor so i'm ok with it. (Although i have to admit that the color is adjustable in UltraEdit :) )
I just checked on the editor I use for web stuff...it has black on light gray and I can see that still somewhat decently...or...like the line nbrs in XY Raw View...again, black on gray = fine...just not gray on gray, ok? Because that gray text gets worse depending on viewing angle to screen, and in some cases, almost vanishes.

So before you make it fully customizeable, I'd just use the std text color which is most likely black and see how that works...though I certainly couldn't object to (and would prefer) a way to make the gray background for this line nbr just a bit lighter so it's more of a tint than a color.

OK, I made them customizable.

Concerning the factory default: I take it that almost everybody here finds the text color too bright?

:D THANKS much!

Bright and gray are two words that I doubt I'd use together...light or pale, maybe...better now, but I'm still going to adjust mine to full black....and using background of #FFFFDC for now.

Well, I do. If I would use XYplorer out-of-the-box, I would keep the colors that way. It just doesn't look that good with my prefered color configuration.

Thanks for making it configurable, Don.
One little thing: Is there a way to make the line on the right side of the column disappear or making it the same color as the LineNumText or the Grid color? On my dark background it just looks a little bit out of place the way it is now (too bright on the dark background) and makes me ponder if I should hide the LineNum column or live with this little visual annoyance. :?

I hope you don't curse me for all this nit-picking... ;-)

Do you have a screenshot of your situation?

There are two vertical lines:

The left one is a Windows background colour - the same as the Menu bar, Splitter, Status bar etc...
The right one is the pane background colour and shows if the sort is done on the Name column and the sorted column is a different colour.

In the next version the right border of the line numbers area will be derived from the backcolor of this area. It should not look out of place anymore in any color combination.

OK, I see. In the next version the line will be near-black in your scheme. Ok?

Just tried it, and actually it will be 424242, so just a tiny bit darker than your 464646 backcolor, so virtually invisible.

Wonderful! It's not only the "inner values" of XYplorer, for me it's also the best looking file manager out there. :-)
And now even for my unusual color configuration... ;-)
