No, it does not work: With Themes style active, taking the bold away from the current tab makes it almost indistinguishable from the other tabs.

Yes! Born as a btw-idea bud good improvement i think :D (part 1 of my pic)
Thank you Don. (and THX donho too of course)

However, I'd still like something to make that non-active "open" tab still be a bit less visible...
I too, ...still mull over it...
j_c_hallgren wrote:so here's another simple idea that I'll toss out for critique...
what about reverting that tabs font to normal from bold when that pane goes inactive?
Since the background color still shows it to be the 'primary' tab of the alternate pane....
I don't think that this modification will help here much  (part 2 of my pic)

Didn't claim it was ideal but just something to consider, especially for us "Classic" users...and as Don pointed out, it's not usable by "Themes" folks...but as a quick alternative to adding another color option, thought it was worth exploring at least...

Yeah, it's O.K. Was just my opinion... no offence to your suggestion  at all

I tried an easy solution: do the "bold" trick only for Classic style. Check next version and tell me what you think.

For me the colored back ground of the two selected tabs are more visible then "if there is bold caption or not".
But on the other hand i had no bad issues with being confuse to access the right one  so i will bump if i fall more often in that trap

But i have an another issue: distinguish what pane is open
- i am on DP
- i have scripts to activate pane 1 OR 2 and show an button menu. (Focus "P1"; button "myco";)
- but if i had switched to DP-off, i can't distinguish if i see the pane 1 now or the pane 2.
So i asking myself "which script should i use to really act on the pane just visible? Script for 1 or 2?"

So just the question:
could there be something to distinguish the two panes?
Like having an (1) or (2)-sign in the Name column or somewhat?

Or is this an another bump to get separate colors for each of the two panes?

Doesn't the "1' or "2" in the "Toggle Active pane" TB icon already serve this purpose?
It does for me...

Only if you have the toolbar visible (one of the only reasons I do).

I don't think the Name column is appropriate with all the list views, instead I'd suggest either somewhere in the status bar or in the title bar.

What I'd really like to see is the TitlebarTemplate tweak become XY-var aware instead of using another set of variables. Then we could use "<get Pane>" for this.

What a nice idea! :D Will do... at least for <get ...>, not sure if more would be an overkill... there's not much space in the titlebar anyway...

I agree it's overkill (even for <get ...>, I can just imagine people using <get SelectedItemsPathNames>), but I was thinking along the lines of making it less confusing by eliminating the special TitlebarTemplate only variables, which as far as I can tell aren't even officially documented.

Well, the whole TitlebarTemplate is not documented. It's just a tweak...

Oh, i didn't know that. That's fine, thanks.

I have enough space there :D

TitlebarTemplate="<get pane>) <path> - <app>"

Thanks for that idea, too. Works great. Problem solved.

Idea: can i add the user name under which XY is running? To indicate an XY running with admin rights.
Or maybe smtg like adding an asterisk * behind XYplorer if run with admin rights.

Hi and welcome to the XY forums!

Having said that, and speaking only as a long time user here, it's not Don's job to do what you wish...he's never done so in the past and I don't expect him to now...this thread has matured and now only deals with a few minor tweaks/enhancements/etc to the existing DP so reading the entire thread is not necessary really...I'd suggest you spend some time reading through the more recent posts, get familiar with the community, use the search feature and then comment as needed, ok?

New users who start off by posting quickly to various threads without getting a feel for this place sometimes tend to give an impression that may well be less than desired or intended...not trying to chastise you but just wanting to have you become a valued user here, ok? Thanks.
