This new test scrolls fine with my touchpad as long as the horizontal scrollbar is not unchecked. Once the horizontal scrollbar is unchecked, checking it back does not enable the vertical scrolling.
Couldn't test the horizontal scroll since the touchpad only produces a vertical scroll.

On my home laptop (the one I was having problems with previously) it works. It's VERY slow, though...but both vertical and horizontal scrolling works.
EDIT:
I found an odd behavior...I don't know if it matters or not, but to reproduce:
1) Uncheck both checkboxes
2) Check the horizontal bar checkbox
3) Move the mouse over the horizontal scrollbar
4) Uncheck the horizontal scrollbar checkbox
5) The horizontal scrollbar reappears even though the checkbox is unchecked.
The above works with the vertical scrollbar too.

I works for me for the most part. As others have said, the speed is slower than I'd expect - but that's probably just something you can tune.
That said, on rare occasion, scrolling in this test app abruptly stops working. The scrollbar icon still shows but no movement occurs. To kickstart it again I seem to have to click on the app again as if re-focusing it. (Although, the window decoration shows no indication that it's lost (or regains focus) so that's probably not exactly what's happening.)

Here's a new version that shows whether the scrolled area is focused (by change of background color). You also are informed about any WM_MOUSEWHEEL which is (or might be) fired.

For me, using a wheel mouse and not touch pad, the scrolling generally works alright. However, the firing of the WM_MOUSEWHEEL message (especially when no scrolling is possible because the bar has hit an end position) looks a bit chaotic or follows patterns that I haven't understood yet.

Downloaded yesterday's test app to my desktop (Win XP, a Logitech basic mousewheel).
The reaction to the mousewheel is almost inexistent: the vertical scroll goes from 0/0 to 5/0 and back no matter how much I scroll the wheel. On this platform, this limited vertical scroll does not depend on the horizontal scroll selection, it is always reacting to the mouse.
This is very contrasted compared to the behavior on the TouchPad, which is perfect.
Edit: I don't really know which version I tested, since I downloaded a minute before the Admin post of 8:32. How about a version number in the title?
No change of color occurs.

Yes, extra-support for mouse-wheel is not added to that test app. My IntelliPoint Software has extra wheel-support built in (unless I turn it off app-wise in the Wheel-Settings) -- that's why my wheel works without me writing extra code. In XYplorer that extra code is included, hence your mouse wheel will work in XYplorer.

In the EXE's properties you should see 1.00.0007.
Color change should occur for example when you click one of the checkboxes (which will take away the focus from the scrolled control).

OK, tested 1.0.07
On Desktop with mousewheel:
Color change (from white to grey) is there, but Scroll reaction (can't really call this scroll) is independent of focus - it is always there.
Messages displayed in textbox.
Testing on laptop with TouchPad:
Vertical scroll OK, stops when scroll area loses focus (Show Horizontal checkbox checked, color change). Scroll restarts when scroll area regains focus.
No messages displayed in the textbox.

There's a new version 1.00.0008:

I added extra wheel code. Does it wheel-scroll now when you check "Extra Wheel Support"?

No it does not.
Also, I note that the message does not change. I do not know what the X and Y mean, but they do not change when the mouse is moved around.

Hm, bad. It should work at least when the scroll area has the focus (white background color).
Let's see what other report.

I have a Logitech MX Revolution and for me the wheel-scroll is not working.
The window is not scrolled, the only thing happens is that when I use the
scroll wheel is that the text is updated. The time changes and also Delta
when I change direction.
The version of ScrollAndWheelTester you posted May 25 21:22 worked but very slow.

Did you test the latest version 1.00.0018? This should work if you check "Extra Wheel Support"...
Does wheel-scroll work for you in XYplorer?

Yes I used the latest version 1.00.0008 and also tried it with "Extra Wheel Support, same problem.
The scroll wheel works in XYPlorer. (ver. 7.10.0019)
Thr left and right scroll is not working in XYPlorer but did for the first
version of ScrollAndWheelTestar you uploade yeasterday (Mat 25 21:22).
I will test ScrollAndWheelTestar on my home computer, have the same mouse at home also and see if there are any differences.
