I know I can delete the ini file. But then I would have to set up all again.
And I know why you have changed the tabs section. But I don't think that renaming a section is a good idea. Why don't you handle this problem like you have changed the "NewTemplates" or "ListDateFormats"? I think a version entry is the better solution.
I don't want to attack the way you are doing things. These are just my thoughts and ideas ;-)

Re: Here's the new BETA
Easy way to create a clean INI: run TV3, delete TrackerV3.ini, close TV3. Viola: fresh clean INI!peterbonge wrote:Does this mean that the [Tabs] section is now waste? Can it be deleted? Are there any other waste entries or sections? I want to have a clean ini. But I don't want to delete it and set up all new.
It's explained in the paragraph you quoted: because "|" is part of the data itself if you use multiple search locations (which are separated by "|").peterbonge wrote:And why don't you use the [Tabs] section anymore and just delete all entries beginning with a "|"? It's just a little bit strange to me...

v4.00.0046 - 20.04.05 16:07 ! Inconsistency bug concerning search location of Finding Tabs. Fixed: now the search location of Finding Tabs is read from INI data instead from the tab's Find Template. * NOTE: Had to change the tab's data separator used to store sequential data in the INI. It was "|" which was a stupid choice from the beginning because "|" can be part of the data itself (if you use multiple search locations, which are separated by "|"). Now it is ">". As a consequence, unfortunately, all your tab data will be lost. The tabs section in the INI now is [Tabs2].

Re: Here's the new BETA
Download the latest TrackerV3 BETA version (v4.00.0052, 30-apr-2005).
Code: Select all
v4.00.0052 - 30.04.05 10:03
+ Added preview of *.url files (internet shortcuts). Now, the
targets of such files are directly opened within the preview tab.
Makes TrackerV3 a nice bookmark manager (go to your Favorites
folder).
+ Updated Help file, topic "Browsing Tabs".
! If closing many tabs at once by holding down Ctrl+W you could
crash the app. Fixed.
! When creating a new tab (Ctrl+T) the current tab did forget its
recent settings. Fixed.
v4.00.0050 - 22.04.05 17:04
! Shortcut "Ctrl+Left Arrow" (jump to the original location of the
currently focused file in the find results) did not work correctly
since some months: it did jump to the right folder, but did not
focus the file. Fixed.

! Confusion when switching between unavailable tabs of different

Edit:
After deleting all 'dead' shortcuts from my network places,
tracker eventually connected to: \\Www.msnusers.com
Which I assume was cached somewhere previously..
However, this is with v360 which doesn't generate any
of the errors mentioned above.

Selecting the "My Network places" icon (special folder) on the left pane,Cannot reproduce.
What exactly are you doing to generate the bug?
that's all!
I just checked on my other primary partition, C: fat32/Win ME and generated similar error though a bit different:
About ~10 cascading popup windows opened with same error and eventually "tracker caused general error in 'unknown'" and quit.run time error 97:
cannot call friend function on object which
is not an instance of defining class
(These are quite common VB specific errors! )
-Removed beta, applied release--no error!
--Reapllied previous beta, same error(s)!
First error (91) was on partition D:/Ntfs/Win XP/sp2 but after trying the 'release' here it made matters worse on the 'My network places'...
The icon/folder had expandable mark, and selecting it caused tracker to
loop in efforts to connect, I guess, eventually became
non-responsive and had to be 'killed'.
If it can't be reproduced, I guess I'll settle for de-selecting ' show nethood'
in configurations.

beautiful, wow!
That 'temp' bug was with me for a looong time...
!Minor new bug in last beta:
"My network places" folder within the left panel in tracker
produced the following:
Yet manually navigating to actual path, (e.g. %profile%\nethood..)
if fine.
Currently there was not much in that folder, other than 'dead' icon pointing to msn groups..
In win explorer it did cause slight delay, but no errors.
Deleting the shortcut had no effect on tracker's error.
