+ Menu Tools: added command Recycle Bin Stats. It's just a little
message box that tells you relatively quick the total number and
size of items currently in the recycle bin. Just in case you
      wanted to know...
! Menu View, Refresh Tree: did not recognize the appearance of new

      Fixed.
! Info Panel, Report, Current Folder: fixed some minor alignment
      issues.
Many thanks ! I do appreciate all these little tweaks that you add for us.

I hope that some of them also make the product yet more appealing for others in the future.

Download the latest TrackerV3 BETA version (v4.20.0025, 28-oct-2005).

Code: Select all

v4.20.0025 - 28.10.05 18:05
= NEW OFFICIAL RELEASE. Main changes since last release:
+++ Tabbed browsing: added the ability to "lock tabs" (find the new
command/state in the tabs' context menu). A locked tab will never
leave its current location but instead open a new tab
      automatically.
Of course, you can as well lock the search results tab.
+++ Added preview of the following MS Office formats:
DOC, DOT, RTF, PPT, XLS, CSV.
+ Now you can "Open in New Tab" by simply holding Shift when
      clicking a tree node.
+ You can as well "Open in New Background Tab" by simply holding
Ctrl and Shift when clicking a tree node.
    - Various bug fixes.
v4.20.0025 - 28.10.05 18:05
    * Menu View, Refresh Folder is now "Refresh Tree" (shortcut F4). You
guessed it: now the whole visible tree will be updated, not just the
      current folder and its subfolders.

Download the latest TrackerV3 BETA version (v4.20.0024, 28-oct-2005).

Code: Select all

v4.20.0024 - 28.10.05 14:29
! In a fresh installation, the folder "[app-path]\FindTemplates\"
was not created, with the effect that finding tabs would not
      store/retrieve their settings. Fixed.
! Menu View, Date Format, No Time: it did not work anymore, at least
      not under 2K/XP. Fixed.

I'd really like to know how to do this without shutting Windows! There should be a way. Or maybe some software, a memory manager or so...

The private home license is free, and the prof license is not. Let's keep it simple.

The "[free home license ...]" bit is the only difference in the product between the two licenses, and it has to stay.

I cannot do a market research, but I would like to know if there's a general feeling that the price is too high? Do not answer here, please, I'll open a new topic... here: http://www.trackerv3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=414

But is it not also bad practice to close Windows with applications open? So TrackerV3 must be closed before shutting down the system.
AFAIK, Windows closes any open applications as part of its shutdown process.
Yes, but you don't have to shut down Windows when you shut down your computer: if you don't know that look out for "XP hibernation".
But then you lose any advantages of shutting down - ie clearing memory.

XP is much better than previous Windows at managing memory and staying up for days and weeks. But individual programs can still create problems within their own memory area.

So, shutting down Windows and letting it close applications allows one to reset all those individual memory spaces.

:? Guessed that - but haven´t got €40 right now - ever thought about private license (additional benifits?) like somethig around 15-20?

Indeed! I wonder why it ever worked... I guess it still works under Win9x but never worked under 2K/XP. Thanks!

Date Column Format

Post by BooVeMan »

Sorry,
dunno whether this should go here or in bugs...

In 4.20.0014 choosing View->Date Format->No Time gives me the full date including time in hh:mm.ss format.

Is there an option (by donating?) to remove the "[free home license ...]" bit in the headin?. I'm well aware of this fact and you stated quite clearly during installation that a license kay would be needed for professional use.
Suggestion: As a compromise remove the notice after the 10th start... (Yeah - would need a registry key...)

Above all GREAT PIECE OF SOFTWARE!

Came here from ExplorerXP and bound to stay...

Feature request: Recycle Bin/Control Panel in Folder Tree.

THANK YOU!

Download the latest TrackerV3 BETA version (v4.20.0023, 27-oct-2005).

Code: Select all

v4.20.0023 - 27.10.05 14:33
+++ Browsing tabs: added the ability to "lock tabs" (find the new
command/state in the tabs' context menu). A locked tab will never
leave its current location but instead open a new tab
automatically. Further you cannot accidentally close a locked tab
      because you'll be warned.
! Selecting a finding tab when coming from a tab with one or more
folders (or folder.lnk files) selected triggered a search in those
folders instead of the finding tab's original search location.
      Fixed.

Download the latest TrackerV3 BETA version (v4.20.0022, 25-oct-2005).

Code: Select all

v4.20.0022 - 25.10.05 10:50
+ List context menu in find mode: added command "Go to Focused Item
in New Tab", which does exactly what is says.
+ List context menu in find mode: added command "Open Containing
Folder in New Background Tab", which does exactly what is says.
    * List behavior: after multi-selected items are moved or deleted,
the now focused item is now automatically scrolled into the view
      port if necessary.

Download the latest TrackerV3 BETA version (v4.20.0021, 24-oct-2005).

Code: Select all

v4.20.0021 - 24.10.05 16:51
! Issue with popup menu location on multi-monitors systems, try #2.
      Fixed (?).
+ Find Files, Exclude Folders: you can now Ctrl/Shift-multiselect
items in the Excluded Folders list and thus easily remove a whole
      bunch of them.

Download the latest TrackerV3 BETA version (v4.20.0020, 24-oct-2005).

Code: Select all

v4.20.0020 - 24.10.05 13:38
+ Tree ctx menu: added command "Open in New Background Tab". Opens
the clicked folder in a new tab without actually selecting the tab
      and listing the folder's contents.
+ You can as well "Open in New Background Tab" by simply holding
Ctrl and Shift when clicking a tree node.
    * Holding Ctrl and/or Shift while clicking the menu command does not
have any effect anymore (in v4.20.0019 this had led to 2 new tabs).
    * List behavior: if multi-selected items are moved or deleted, the
new focus/selection (after auto-refresh) is now set to the position
of the first selected (now gone) item. Before, the line of the
before-focused item was refocused, which does not make a lot of
      sense.

Download the latest TrackerV3 BETA version (v4.20.0019, 23-oct-2005).

Code: Select all

v4.20.0019 - 23.10.05 17:39
! Issue with popup menu location on multi-monitors systems. Fixed (?).
! Removed some glitches with preview of MS Office formats.
! Alt-Return in the list-view would sometimes bring up the wrong
      properties dialog. Fixed.
+ Now you can "Open in New Tab" by simply holding Shift when
      clicking a tree node.
BTW, of course you should not redundantly hold Shift while you
click the context menu command "Open in New Tab": then you'd get 2
      new tabs.
    * Tree ctx menu, Open in New Tab: does not touch the expanded state
of the node anymore. Before it did automatically expand the node.
    * Reports are now independent of file attributes. Before hidden
files and folders were not reported if they were hidden and not
shown (if "Show Hidden Files and Folders" = Off). In other words,
hidden files and folders are now always reported, even if they are
      currently not shown.
    * "Backup To" is now independent of file attributes. Before hidden
files and folders were not backupped/recursed if they were hidden
and not shown (if "Show Hidden Files and Folders" = Off). In other
words, hidden files and folders are now always backupped, even if
      they are currently not shown.
