    + Configuration | Menus, Mouse, Safety | Safety Belts: Added "Delete
      on key up". If ticked then all commands that delete files are
      triggered on KeyUp instead of on KeyDown. Factory default is off.
      Affected commands:
        File | Delete (Del)
        File | File Special | Delete (No Recycle Bin) (Shift+Del)
        File | File Special | Delete (Skip Locked) (Ctrl+Del)

    * Configuration | File Operations | Miscellaneous | Turn off delete
      confirmation: Renamed to "Suppress delete confirmation dialog" to
      avoid the factually wrong implication that leaving the box
      unticked would turn on the Windows delete confirmation.
    % Breadcrumbs | Navigation Buttons: Removed an occasional annoying

    + Breadcrumbs: Added a couple of optional standard navigation
      buttons. Toggle them via "Show Navigation Buttons" in the right-
      click menu of the bar.
    + Custom Copy | Verification: Now the reports (available from the
      Progress dialog) show the hash value of each successfully verified
      file.
      For example:
        New  E:\Test\Edit.txt -> D:\Test\Edit.txt | SHA-1: 0e133e858715157a191dc1bd006b42b79d376ae1

Change Log for the latest XYplorer BETA version:

Code: Select all

v13.50.0003 - 2013-12-20 10:46
    + Configuration | Controls and More | Miscellaneous: Added "Support
      volume labels in paths". So now this feature is optional. Factory
      default is ON.
    ! Named Drives: Did not work in multi-location name searches. Fixed.
      Now you can do stuff like this:
        Tiger:\Pics\;Lion:\Test\?*.png
    ! Named Drives: Did not work in Drives mode. Fixed.
    > Tips for naming drives: '@', '!', and '%' are valid characters in
      a volume label. But they create possibilities for parsing mess:
      - '@a:\' takes you to the volume named '@a' unless '@a:\' is
        defined as an alias.
      - '!dir:\' runs an invalid DOS command instead of taking you to
        the volume named '!dir'.
      - With environment variable 'MyDrive' set to 'Q', '%MyDrive%:\'
        takes the user to 'Q:\' instead of the volume named '%MyDrive%'
        (which is okay if the volume mounted at 'Q:' is named
        '%MyDrive%').
      So: Don't use such crazy Volume Labels when you enable "Support
      volume labels in paths". Thanks to TheQwerty for discovering this
      hairy stuff.
    ! SC readfile: Did not check user-added text file types for being
      UTF-8 when "UTF-8 auto-detection" was enabled. Fixed.
    * Configuration | Styles | Focus rectangle: Now this setting is also
      respected by the file list when the focused item is not selected.
      Before, a non-selected focused item would always get the Focus
      rectangle. (This change had been removed 20131121 but since XY can
      draw the Themes focus rectangle it's okay again.)

v13.50.0002 - 2013-12-19 13:11
    + Named Drives: Now, for the sake of portability, you can specify
      paths using their name (Volume Label) instead of the drive letter.
      So, for example, if your drive C: is called "TheSystem", then
      these two paths will refer to the same location:
        C:\Windows
        TheSystem:\Windows
      Works wherever portable paths work.
    ! History: Toggling Branch View added the current folder to the
      history again and again if "Configuration | Refresh, Icons,
      History | History | History without duplicates" was not ticked.
      Fixed.
    ! List: In Thumbnails view you got an error when a LNK to a non-
      existing folder was shown. Fixed.

Change Log for the latest XYplorer BETA version:

Code: Select all

v13.50.0001 - 2013-12-18 20:12
    * Configuration Dialog: Position was not remembered across sessions.
      Now it is.
    * External Copy Handlers: The passed target path is now unslashed
      else the quoted argument ends with \" which is interpreted as an
      escaped quote by Windows and might confuse the receiving program.
      Exception: Drive roots; they need the slash and don't need to be
      quoted.
      However, FastCopy has a bizarre special rule where the trailing
      slash makes a difference! If the target is not slashed AND the
      source consists of exactly one folder then the contents of that
      source folder are copied to the target, else the source folder
      itself (with its contents) is copied. Since the latter is the
      expected behavior in Windows, I have to ensure the trailing slash
      with FastCopy.
    * External Copy Handlers: The internally used source items file is
      now created in the user's temp folder and deleted on exiting
      XYplorer. Before, it was created in the copy handler's app data
      folder and not deleted.
    * Menu File | To Clipboard: The three "Name(s), Bytes, Modified..."
      commands now return the time stamp in ISO 8601 format. That way
      the information is internationally understandable.
    * Find Files: Now in Loose Boolean Match, any empty (or spaces-only)
      patterns are ignored. Before, they would have been treated as if
      they were * (asterisk = match all). Now these search terms all
      lead to identical searches and search results:
        *.txt;*.zip
        *.txt;*.zip;
        *.txt;;*.zip
        *.txt;   ;*.zip
        *.txt;;;;;*.zip

Summary of the latest XYplorer Official Release.

Download: http://www.xyplorer.com/download.php

Code: Select all

v13.50.0000 - 2013-12-17 12:00
    = NEW OFFICIAL RELEASE. Main developments since last release:
  +++ External Copy Handlers. Now you can let external copy handlers
      handle your copy and move operations. Currently FastCopy and
      TeraCopy are supported.
  +++ Tree Node Crumbs. Now you can select any child folder of a folder
      without opening the whole node. Simply right-click the plus/minus
      symbol of the folder to pop a list of all child folders. This is
      especially useful with the Mini Tree.
  +++ Fuzzy Favorites. Now Favorite Folders and Favorite Files support
      the wildcard *. The first match will be used. Useful to bookmark
      items with variable names.
  +++ Copy Distributed Items. Now you can pass a file containing a list
      of source items to a copy or move operation. This way you can very
      easily copy distributed items spread across your system and
      network in one go. This can mean an enormous usability boost.

Change Log for the latest XYplorer BETA version:

Code: Select all

v13.40.0211 - 2013-12-15 16:00
    + SC copyto, moveto, backupto: Now you can pass a file containing a
      source item list as source. The source items file should be an
      ASCII or UNICODE text file, and containing one source item per
      line. Empty lines are ignored. Folders can be slashed or not.
      Example for the contents of a source items file:
        E:\Test\a\test\file-01.txt
        E:\Test\a\test\file-02.txt
        E:\Test\a\test\folder\
      To mark the source argument as source items file simply prefix it
      with "*".
      Example:
        copyto "E:\Target\", "*E:\Test\Sources.txt";
      Remarks:
      - This feature allows you to easily trigger "distributed file
        operations", i.e. operations on a set of items that cannot
        easily be defined by selecting the items in the file list. This
        can mean an enormous usability boost.
      - The *-prefix was borrowed by TeraCopy, thanks for that!
    * SC copyto, moveto, backupto: Now the first argument (location) is
      optional and defaults to the current path.
        copyto , "*E:\Test\Sources.txt"; //copy stuff to here
    + Address Bar: Now, when the Address Bar shows an existing file (not
      a folder), then the icon pops a right-click menu with 4 useful
      commands: Go To, Open, Copy Item, Copy Name.
    * Copy Handler Definitions: Now you can omit the path. It will
      default to the following standard paths:
        FastCopy: %ProgramFiles%\FastCopy\FastCopy.exe
        TeraCopy: %ProgramFiles%\TeraCopy\TeraCopy.exe
      So, a set of copier definitions can now look like this:
        FastCopy (AutoClose)||/auto_close
        FastCopy (Verify)||/verify /auto_close
        TeraCopy (Rename All)||/RenameAll
        TeraCopy (Overwrite Older)||/OverwriteOlder
    * SC Copier: Now it's a function.
      Name: Copier
      Action: Defines an external copy handler for copy and move operations.
      Syntax: copier([definition])
        definition: Defines the program to use and how.
          General syntax: Caption|Executable|Switches
          - The Caption has to be either TeraCopy or FastCopy.
          - The Executable has to be the full path to the executable.
            Optional. If omitted then these are the defaults:
            FastCopy: %ProgramFiles%\FastCopy\FastCopy.exe
            TeraCopy: %ProgramFiles%\TeraCopy\TeraCopy.exe
          - The Switches are optional. Look them up in the documentation
            of the copier.
          Set to "" to use XYplorer's Custom Copy.
        return: the current definition.
      Examples:
        copier("FastCopy (AutoClose)||/auto_close"); //set copy handler
        copier(""); //back to XYplorer's Custom Copy
        echo copier(); //show current definition (don't change anything)
        $old = copier(""); //store current definition, then reset it to ""
    + Menu File | To Clipboard: Added command "Name(s), Bytes,
      Modified[, Version], Path, MD5". The new thing here the MD5 part.
    * Toolbar | Use Custom Copy: Now the icon turns green when an
      external copy handler is enabled.
    ! Thumbnails: Shell thumbnails (PSD, PDF, Office, and many more)
      would not be displayed under DBCS codepages (East Asia) when the
      path or file name contained Unicode characters. Fixed #2.
    * MLS: Internally updated to version 8.41.
      > TRANSLATORS: Please wait until Reference_8.41.lng is uploaded.

Change Log for the latest XYplorer BETA version:

Code: Select all

v13.40.0208 - 2013-12-13 18:50
    * SC Copier: Now the caption can be freely extended, as long as it
      starts with "FastCopy" or "TeraCopy". So you can do something like
      this:
        copier 'FastCopy (AutoClose)|%ProgramFiles%\FastCopy\FastCopy.exe|/auto_close';
        copier 'FastCopy (Verify)|%ProgramFiles%\FastCopy\FastCopy.exe|/verify';
      This caption is shown in the tooltip of Toolbar | Use Custom Copy,
      so you can easily see which kind of copy handler is enabled.
    * SC Copier: Now you can optionally specify extra switches that are
      used by Move operations in an optional 4th field of the
      specification. If Move switches are specified then the other
      switches are taken as Copy switches.
        General Syntax 1: Caption|Executable|Switches
        General Syntax 2: Caption|Executable|Copy Switches|Move Switches
    + Configuration | File Operations | Custom Copy Operations: Added
      section "External Copy Handlers" with button "Configure...". The
      button opens a multiline edit box where you can specify any number
      of external copy handlers, one per line. Each line has to follow
      the same syntax as the one used by SC copier, so the contents
      could look like this:
        FastCopy (AutoClose)|%ProgramFiles%\FastCopy\FastCopy.exe|/auto_close
        FastCopy (Verify)|%ProgramFiles%\FastCopy\FastCopy.exe|/verify /auto_close
        TeraCopy (Rename All)|%ProgramFiles%\TeraCopy\TeraCopy.exe|/RenameAll
        TeraCopy (Overwrite Older)|%ProgramFiles%\TeraCopy\TeraCopy.exe|/OverwriteOlder
      The nice thing about this addition is that all copy handlers
      listed here are also listed in the right-click menu of the "Use
      Custom Copy" toolbar button, where you can now select your
      preferred copy handler by a single click. Also listed here is
      "XYplorer" which stands for XYplorer's native Custom Copy.
      Note that this way to define a copy handler is functionally
      independent of the one using SC copier. There is no conflict. Both
      modify the same setting, one via GUI, the other via scripting.
    ! Environment Variables: Under certain conditions (when there was a
      hole in the array) not all environment variables were seen by XY.
      Fixed.
    * Fresh Configuration: Experimentally now 2 advanced modules are
      turned off in a fresh configuration: User and Scripting. The idea
      is to reduce the overkill shock in newbies.
    ! Find Files: A newly opened Search Results tab could falsely
      inherit a Visual Filter from the current tab although that filter
      was not applied to the search results. Fixed: Newly opened Search
      Results tabs will not inherit any Visual Filters anymore.
