*** HANDLE WITH CARE: This Beta has a couple of RADICAL changes in internal
and stored data structures affecting tag.dat, fvs.dat, and XYplorer.ini.
The changes affect the number, type, and order of columns in the file
list.
+++ Extra Tags: Added five optional extra columns to the file list for Browse
and Find mode. So now you got five freely defineable extra fields for each file
by which you can sort the file list and find files across your system in
lightning fast speed. As before, the database tag.dat is kept in an
ultra-simple, human-readable, processing-friendly, future-proof, and optionally
portable format.
Usage:
- Show the columns just like the other regular columns: via menu View, or via
right-clicking the currently shown column headers (not with Size and Date
columns which show their special context menu).
- Edit the content of the columns by right-clicking the cell you want to edit.
- "Text" and "Number" columns pop standard edit options by right-click.
- "Date" columns pop a list of predefined dates by right-click.
- "List", "Yes/No", and "Rating" columns pop a list of predefined choices by
right-click.
- "Yes/No" columns can be directly toggled by left-click.
Notes:
- The extra tags support all characters (even line feeds) with one exception: the pipe (|).
- This feature is only available in the Pro Edition.
Coming in the next beta versions:
- The default captions of those columns are "Extra 1", "Extra 2", "Extra 3" etc,
but they can later be edited by the user.
You can already modify them now by manually editing tag.dat where the column
definitions are transparently stored in the header, and via the new SC ExtraTag.
- The user can also customize the type of the columns (Text, Number,
Date, Yes/No, List (Pop-up List), Rating). This column type
concerns sorting, ways to input data, and the display of the data.
- Find by extra tags.
- Scripting support.
* Tag.dat has a new version and structure. It now contains 5 fields
for Extra Tags:
OLD (v2): filename|label|tags|reserved1|reserved2|reserved3|comment
NEW (v3): filename|label|tags|ex1|ex2|ex3|ex4|ex5|comment
+ SC tag enhanced. Now you can use this command to set Extra Tags.
Name: tag
Action: Tag item(s).
Syntax: tag [tagid=0], [itemlist], [type=0]
tagid = Tag ID (missing or 0: remove any tag)
itemlist = |-separated list of items (full path) to tag;
if empty then current list selections are tagged
type 0 = Label
1 = Tags
2 = Comment
3, ex1 = Extra 1
4, ex2 = Extra 2
5, ex3 = Extra 3
6, ex4 = Extra 4
7, ex5 = Extra 5
Examples:
tag "wow", , 5; // set "wow" to Extra Tag 3 of all selected items
tag "wow", , ex3; // set "wow" to Extra Tag 3 of all selected items
+ Scripting got a new function.
Name: ExtraTag
Action: Sets or gets an Extra Tag definition.
Syntax: extratag(id, [definition])
id: Extra Tag index: 1 to 5.
definition: Extra Tag definition.
Format 1: Caption|Type|Prop|DefaultIndex|List[|Reserved|Reserved|Reserved|Reserved]
This will change the whole definition.
(The details will be explained later... still work in progress)
Format 2: Caption
This will change just the column caption.
If missing then only the current definition is returned.
return: The previous definition.
Examples:

Notes:
- Changes, e.g. new column captions, will be immediately applied to the list
when applicable.
+ List: Now the Browse mode has an optional Path column as well (off
by default). Can be useful for reporting.
* Default Titlebar Template: Changed it from "<path> - <app> @ <ini> -
<ver>" to "<path> - <app> <ver>".
! Tree and List: Non-existing removable drives were shown under Win8. Fixed.
! List: Vietnamese default number settings lead to a missing leading 0s in
the bytes column. Fixed. Now leading 0s are always shown regardless of the
regional settings.
* MLS: Internally updated to version 9.00.

* Paste to Type Ahead Find: Since under NTFS the maximum length of
individual components of a filename (i.e. each subdirectory along
the path, and the final filename) is limited to 255 characters,
also the string used by PTAF is now limited to the first 255
characters.
! SC popupmainmenu: Under certain conditions a certain submenu was
not shown. Fixed.
! Floating Preview: If you delete a file within the Floating Preview
(by pressing DEL) AND "Select next item after delete and move" is
OFF then the preview will now turn empty. Before, the preview
remained visible even when the file did not exist anymore.

+ Sync Browse: Now when in Sync Browse mode selecting "A.txt" in the
active pane will optionally auto-select "A.txt" in the inactive
pane (if it exists there). Useful when both panes have different
sort orders, differing file listings, or different view modes.
To enable this feature tick "Auto-Sync Select" in the right-click
menu of the "Sync Browse" toolbar button.
* Paste to Type Ahead Find: On multiline clipboard contents now only
the first line is used.
! Menu Edit | Paste: The Paste command was disabled when only text
was present in the clipboard (and no files). Now it is enabled to
support Paste to Type Ahead Find.
! List: The context menu of drives lacked the item "Show 64-bit
Context Menu" where it should be shown. Fixed.

clipboard, pasting this text into the List will attempt to find,
focus, and highlight the next match, just as if you used Type
Ahead Find. Cool!
Before, you would just have gotten a useless "Nothing to paste."
message.
+ List: The white space right-click menu now features "Properties"
as last command. It will show the Shell Properties dialog for the
current folder. Kind of expected.
! List: On startup the inactive pane did not restore its scroll
position anymore but always was initialized to top position.

* Sync Browse: If the locations of both panes are identical then
Sync Browse will simply keep them identical wherever you go, even
across drives. Before, this would only work within the initial
drive (where you started Sync Browse).
This is quite useful when browsing both panes in different views
(e.g. Details and Thumbs).
! Open Files Dialogs: The word "Files" was doubled, e.g. "Language
Files Files (*.lng)" since recently. Fixed for all languages.
- Removed the little experiment from v13.60.0016. It had a couple of
undesired side-effects, among them a crash-bug when clicking a
triangle in the breadcrumb bar right after startup (which calls
for a hotfix one day after releasing 13.70, arrgh).

you could equally reach by going forward in history then history
will behave *as if* you went forward. This way the future is not
destroyed.

+++ Sync Browse. Magically browse both panes in parallel motion. Sync
Browse is a great time saver when performing moves, renames, or
other reorganizations on mirrored drives. Another cool usage is to
browse one location in two different simultaneous views, e.g. in
Details and in Thumbnails view.
+++ Shell Integration. Now you can show the 64-bit shell context menu
instead of the 32-bit shell context menu. That way you can see and
use your 64-bit shell extensions from XYplorer.
+++ Upgrade Home. Now you can upgrade your Standard License Home or

* Network Browsing: Experimentally improved the ability to browse
offline files. This has to be ticked: Configuration | Controls and
More | Miscellaneous | Assume that servers are available.
! Tree: When browsing the special folder "<user>\Documents" the Tree
could get confused about which node to update (on renaming or
creating a subfolder) since this folder is physically identical
to the special folder <personal> (CSIDL_PERSONAL). Fixed.
