Change Log for the latest XYplorer BETA version (64-bit):

Code: Select all

v28.00.0577 - 2025-11-12 19:12
! Opening Overlong Items: Did not work reliably even with "Configuration | General |
Controls & More | Miscellaneous | Support overlong filenames" enabled. Fixed.
! Deleting Overlong Items: Turns out that the shell cannot deal with a 255-character
path in the drive root although this length should be totally legal according to the
docs. If such a beast somehow ends up in the Recycle Bin, which is possible in
Win8.1 but not in Win11, then the attempt to restore it will crash XYplorer and File
Explorer without mercy or questions. Actually it seems that the max length the shell
can handle for root paths is only X:\+245 characters.
Fixed. Now XYplorer will prompt you to permanently delete such an item. It won't end
      up in the recycler.

Code: Select all

v28.00.0567 - 2025-11-11 17:34
    * Self-Update: A pretty superfluous prompt "Note that you have to run the installer as
Administrator..." has been removed from the self-update process.
! Tree and List: Attempting to rename an item to a name longer than 255 characters
(without the path) could cause a complete crash. Fixed. Now you will receive the
message "Path components cannot be longer than 255 characters."

Overall spacing) could break toolbar button dimensions with high DPI display. Fixed.

Code: Select all

v28.00.0555 - 2025-11-08 21:04
! Drag and Drop: Crash when dragging an overlong item (> 259 characters in the path).
      Fixed.
In Win10 and later you now can drag those items without a crash and copy them to the
drop target. Moving them by drag and drop however is not yet supported. Research in
      progress.
In Win8.1 and earlier dragging overlong items now is disabled. Better than a crash.

not greyed out so easily by clipboard stuff that only the shell can handle.

Change Log for the latest XYplorer BETA version (64-bit):

Code: Select all

v28.00.0542 - 2025-11-06 12:02
% Multiple Monitors: Switching between monitors and DPI with the main window has been
greatly improved. The transition is smoother and the resulting window has the
correct size and position. Also icons sizes and positions came closer to perfection.
    * Configuration | Colors and Styles | Color Filters | Draw background colors as wide
as the column: This setting now controls the width of background colors *independently*
of the "Configuration | General | Menus, Mouse, and Usability | Mouse | Full Name
Column Select" setting. In other words: You can now have color filters just as wide
as the caption while "Full Name Column Select" is enabled. This makes the
distinction between a color filter and a selection rectangle clearer.
If a background-color-filtered file is selected you still see a bit of the color
filter to the right of the selection rectangle.

+ Multiple Monitors: The Info Panel layout on the main window now functions well
enough to be usable when switching monitors/DPI. There's no point in going for total
perfection yet, since tB is still in a fluid state regarding DPI management.
Especially label controls behave erratic and weird.
