May I ask.. do you have anything special in your shell ctxt menu?? Cause obviously the XY menu is filled with lots of great features (which I love), but the 3 first commands are Move/Copy/Backup Here ; which are the only ones I get on the shell ctxt menu (with create shortcuts, but I never use that one)

Hi Jacky;

WinRar and 7z both put entries in the context menu. (Extract files, extract here, Extract to separate folders)

This saves from having to open the extracter program surfing to the archive and then surfing to where it should be extracted. The dragNdrop solves this in 2 clicks of the mouse.

This is the most used entry in that menu for me. That is why I wish it was near/at the top of the custom menu, then I would have it on all the time, because I agree with Don that that menu has a lot of good stuff on it.

Hey John :)

oooh nice.. I'm a WinRAR user aswell (best tool in its category, IMHO) and I know & use those commands from the file's ctxt menu, but I had never realized they were also available on that shell ctxt menu aswell! :oops:

I usually extract in (a subfolder of) the same folder so that probably explains why I never tried it, I guess. I can see how usefull this can be indeed, but I honestly don't know is the "Shell Context Menu..." would "make sense" being on top on the XU ctxt menu :roll: (or maybe as very 1st item followed by a separator?)

Have no idea how/if this is do-able, but what could be cool would be if those extra entries could be shown on XY'x ctxt menu, on a new section after the classic "Move/Copy/Backup Here"...

Hi Jacky

Ya, I think I would be happy with either of these suggestions, but the first one preferably.

This method of dealing with archives via this drag N drop, is really a time saver. Especially when you're talking about extracting many archives at the same time to separate folders (which both of them are capable of).

What you maybe don't know: in the custom menu, press H to open the shell menu.

All in one menu: not doable AFAIK.

Vista-issue: still researching...

BTW, do you see accelerators (underlined access letters) in XYplorer's config window in vista?

Hi Don;

No, no, not all in one menu, just wanting the link to the standard context menu (nearer the top/at the top) of your context menu, instead of at the bottom, where it is now.

But I don't want it at the top. Why not simply press "H" in the custom context menu?!

And what about the accelerators?

Ok, ok, I'll try it with the H thing, just so you know, I will have to take my hand off the mouse for that. (my left hand is lazy ;) ).

Next time I am in Vista, I will check that out for you.

PS. I can't seem to use any of the fancy colors/font/emoticons any more. ??

Hi Don;

Ok, the only place in the config dialog where I see an underline is on the Thumbnails tab at the bottom:

Don't extract thumbnails......

The 'x' is underlined.

Hmm, that's not enough. Does it work in 0042?

Hi Don;

As of 0043, all seems to be good, they are all there (as far as I tell).

I was not online at all yesterday :shock: so I missed 0042.

Yup, XY is almost like virus/firewall software... a new update almost daily!
Can't stay away from here long or you're get lost in a cloud of dust as it moves on ahead... :wink:
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Nah XY is much better, cause AV and such "only" (mostly) update some definitions, etc while XY actually "really" gets better every single day! :D 8)
