Preview m4a audio files

Post by ksnyder »

Is there a trick to previewing m4a audio files? Every other audio file that I have tried will play, but m4a files only show the album art. Thank you.

Hm. I don't seem to have such a file for testing. Can you send me a download link to one?

Mine play well in XYpreview panel.

You can try installing some codecpack such as:
- K-Lite codecpack
- Windows 7 codecpack

Strange. They play fine in Windows Media Player, so I don't think it's a codec problem. I can't preview any .mov video files either.

It it DRM-protected?

99.9% chance it's the usual codec problem.

Install this:

And report back if still broken.

The music is not DRM. It shouldn't be a codec issue, the files play in Adobe Bridge without any trouble. I don't want to install a codec pack. I use my computer for video editing and I have seen some negative side effects to installing a bunch of codecs. Bummer, I liked the possibility of using this program to preview my files. I have tried it on three computers without any luck. All the computers will play the files in Windows Media Player...moving on. Thanks for all the suggestions.

It is the codec though. Adobe just doesn't register it system-wide. This is not an XY issue.

It's possible that codecs are registered only for 64-bit apps. Oh yeah, luckily this nightmare will be over in 2014.
