Remember "Preview" audio setting

Post by karimmaster101 »

when I set volume at my preview tab to any level, it just work with this file and if I select any other file It just start from 0.
Is there any way to change default volume ratio for all files?
Note that I have tried File>Exit(saving), and it works but this method didn't show the indicator bar, I am just hear the sound but the blue bar showed as it from 0. I downloaded the last version and didn't work too

The volume goes back to 0??? :eh: This is not intended. And it does not do it here. Cannot explain. Are you sure?

I first installed this a week ago, v. 13.20.

I had the same issue - the volume bar was ALWAYS set at zero when I started a preview.
Raising the volume on the volume bar would work fine.

Today, I upgraded to 13.30, and the volume bar still DISPLAYS at zero, but whatever my speakers are set at, is the true volume.
The volume display shows the % as I raise/lower it, but only the actual speaker controls changes the volume.

So - right now, the volume bar does nothing; AND it still displays at zero whenever it starts a preview.

Anyone else?

OK - so several hours of use & experimentation later...

It would appear that I somehow (very recently - must be within days, and mysteriously) lost some codecs.
AVI files would not give me any sound at all in the Preview, yet I've played some of my favourite files even until a couple of days ago.

Adding some new XVID and DIVX codecs, the Preview volume works fine now.
BUT - the volume still starts at zero, which is my primary concern on this subject.

Can anybody else confirm this? (I cannot test it here)

(Not that I don't believe you, but if this would be a common issue why hasn't anybody ever told me about it?)

Nope, can't confirm here. XY remembers correctly the volume across restarts/sessions. I have settings on exit saved, btw.

I once got some corrupted codec and the video play but no sound (sound bar in XY goes empty too), but it's not XY's fault and will be tricky to solve (codec can be corripted in multiple ways) and it's easy to install new codec pack.

Not worth speding your time to fix IMO

Marco's observation can be repeatedly reproduced here. That's, the volume is always the same as the previous sessions, in the Preview Pane.
