Is the mouse wheel supposed to scroll in all menus or only those with scroll bars?
I want XY to serve soft ice cream. Please Don, make XY serve soft ice cream.

BC: Two wishes

Post by Borut »

Just to note the results with 13.10.0114 under WinXP SP3 and Classic Theme:

Wheeling in AB and BC (custom and colored): Works! Great! (I suppose that it is normal that Windows menu version does not support wheeling.) Also, now BACK key is terminating the drop down list and going to the upper level = nice and as expected. Thanks a lot!

Now the two wishes:

1. Dragging the current path from BC

Sometimes I have to D&D the current path from the XYplorer to some other application. In these cases I drag from the tree. I think that it would be nice if one could drag the current path from an empty space in the BC (and/or from some special place in the BC).

2. New scrolling possibility for a long drop down list

It is already very flexible (slider+wheeling+custom coloring). This is great and functions great. But how about borrowing the idea from the Windows solution and additionally/optionally providing a special line at the top and bottom of the list - while mouse key would be held down on these special lines the list would scroll up/down line wise (a line at a time, but continuously, as long as the mouse key is down).

(Reason: My mouse wheel support in windows is set to page scrolling (one wheel increment = one page scroll), which is currently perfectly supported in the new control, but there are times one does not want to bring the next page of lines in view, but just a next line or two.)

Great that it works now! Thanks all for testing, that was really ugly to debug.

Your wishes: Well, maybe in BC 2.0... :)

Scrolling works fine on Win 8.1 as well.
+ Breadcrumbs: Components > 32 characters are ellipsed. A tooltip
shows the full name. Yes, yes, will be improved later...
and
+ Breadcrumbs: Improved smartness of component ellipsing. Now
components > 20 characters can be ellipsed, but this is only done
when necessary, i.e. when the whole path does not fit in the
space.
Doesn't work yet. Is it to be turned on from somewhere.

And maybe <SHIFT>+<LMB> could open the path in another tab just like when using the tree?

At least this action seems much more common and useful than dropping from/on, me thinks. Opinions?

Don,

I guess you <edit>are</edit> getting into some "troubles" here.

Code: Select all

v13.10.0115 - 2013-10-20 19:53
+ Breadcrumbs: Improved smartness of component ellipsing.
Just checked it, I don't see something left to improve.

Übersmart. :D :appl:

Yes, probably. It's on my list.

Tested also Vietnamese on Win7. Again: cannot see any problem. What could be special about your system?

Well, all in all: We are getting closer now. Closer to the new gold standard for breadcrumbs.
