Better information on Oprical Drives

When XY is pointed to an optical drive that contains a blank disc the Window indicates "Location currently not available". While that may be factually correct a more accurate and useful message would be along the lines of "Drive contains empty CD-R" or something similar.

Can this be done? In a perfect world something like this screen shot from Win 7 Explorer would be nice.
