My XY crash when I click Window > Enable breadcrum. Hope that it's not LayoutSP again.

Good morning...

...and some news: starting xy via

Code: Select all

xyplorer.exe /win=tray
does work, too.

Edit: Could not repro on my business machine (win7 x64 Enterprise).

When back at home I have one check left I can think of (stopping Listary before starting XY the regular way). Hope that I don't have to trash my settings.

Cheers,

tested the phase 2 breadcrumb and its very good, the lighter shade detail for the path when you go a level back is very easy on the eyes, also the triangle looks a lot better than the slash.

i have a wish for the shortcut Go | Breadcrumb (Ctrl+Backspace), which is somewhat related to the new Breadcrumb

i wish it could have the same triangle feature (showing available paths), this can be called mini breadcrumb or just crumbs

this is for the keyboard users, using just the cursor arrows keys you can navigate all of your folders

thanks!

Not possible. This is a standard menu where I cannot paint triangles, well at least not within reasonable effort.

OK, good morning! Error 91. I don't get it and I don't know where it comes from (tested in XP and Win7; also in classic mode). Hm.

If I have many folders, clicking on the triangle creates a popup with arrows up and down, without mouse support, without scrollbar. It is painfully slow to choose a folder in this way. :( I am sorry to say, but Windows Explorer is much better at this part. But I hope you will be able to improve it in a later phase.

I did not get an error on /win=tray, but it might all be connected. I'll send an update soon...

Misunderstanding, I didn't get an error this way as well, XY just can be opened full-fletched. Only calling the plain standard path for startup raises this error.

Wow. Just realized this thread number is 8888. Nice.

Anyways, I was wondering but does the plan for the breadcrumbs including the ability to traverse through folders completely in the breadcrumbs? Like:

I was revisiting breadcrumbs for various softwares. The scrollbar in Windows Explorer isn't the best approach, as it only utilises a part of the screen.

My folder layout is usually very few folders (no scrollbar required) or too many folders. Would showing multiple menu's be better than the scrollbar based approach. This would allow a compact listing of all subfolders.

Ah I see. No problem since the foundation for the Breadcrumbs need to be focused first heh.

Anyways, so far it's working well. There is one issue though. If the folder happens to have "." in the name such as "This.Is.A.Folder", the folder icon does not display next to it unlike the other regular folders.

I think a scroll bar could work. Perhaps set it so that it uses a percentage amount of the vertical height of the screen. Like 50% or something. Although multiple menu is not a bad thing either but it could get messy especially locations with more folders that what the listing could display at once.
