Dual Locations

I've just tested some examples you've provided by the release notes. Looks really cool!

Though I've never used Tabsets directly so far (only via Flux's SessionManager script), I immediately thought of Dual Locations being some sort of Meta/Dual Tabsets. After taking a quick look in a tabset.ini I rather like to call it lightweight tabsets - once we could define more than one path per pane. I mean I could simply save the statements, associate a name, make it persistant - and simply have an inbuild lightweight (no layouts) tab session manager.

Am I wrong here?

I like it alot, this is a useful function for me at least. I frequently want to open a pair of tabs - so this feature is ideal.

OK, I fixed lots of glitches, partly terribly complex. Let's test it a bit and then think about an UI for it.

I have ideas for the UI (doesn't come as a surprise, does it?) - but I guess you're right, better wait for more feedback and take it from there.

Note that also scripts are supported. This will prompt for a tabset for each pane:

Of course, you could also load the dual tabsets right away:

How many users will actually use it?

As I use considerable amount of features of XYplorer, I have stopped using dual pane mode about one and a half year ago and I haven't switch it on once since then. I for one cannot imagine a situation where I should use it again in XY. Now I feel it as a space-waster. However, I am pretty sure that dual pane fans will appreciate it very much. But it is sure that this new function won't lead me back to use dual pane mode.

would you mind sharing a typical workflow scenario?
I have a professional interest in this (consulting business) since I have witnessed people working in a similar fashion, performing suprisingly fast file operations with one of those tools that extend WinExplorer with tabs and locked tree favorites (but no second pane).

here three links that might answer your question for my case:

a work flow (a pane at a time), a script (for loading tabsets into active pane and a tweak (for pruning the tree in a radical way).

Hope they can explain my work flow with a single pane at a time.

Another little discovery. You can use it to just change the view. This sets both panes to Large Icons:

2) If yes, will you use only/mostly the locations, or also the list settings part?

3) If the latter, will you use only/mostly the view mode or also the other settings (sort, style)?

thanks for sharing, my own requirements cannot be met by your workflow, but after trying out your script I see real value in that for other scenarios, will get back to you about that later.

This is more versatile than I would have imagined. Shines a whole new light onto the term favorite, could become my Swiss Pocket Knife for opening just about everything.

1) Yes. I think it can/will replace tab() in some of my script scenarios. But haven't spent much time thinking about yet (no time).

2/3) Mostly for locations, but being able to e.g. set the sorting as well should be useful.
