[MLS] XYplorer crashes with translation tool

Post by fenixproductions »

I've started working on translation and I am unable to continue with built-in tool (will use Notepad++ though).

First thing is that suddenly XY started to give strange error after click on Interface Translation Tool menu item:

Code: Select all

Error: 13 (0000000D)
Desc: Type mismatch
Dll: 0
Proc: InitCAT@0

Source: XYplorer
XY ver: 11.70.0113
OS: Windows XP Professional (Dodatek Service Pack 3), 32-bit
Date: 2012-11-18 00:34:06
It was not that bad at first (tool still working and only counter not available) but today it got worse:
after getting string #244 XY crashes on Apply & next for some longer texts or texts with commas (,).

Problematic LNG file:

Hi fenix,

If I am not wrong, the two strings in the line #245 are interchanged - what should be original is translation and vice versa. Most probably an omission while you were using external editor, I guess.

But, the interesting part is that I was still not able to get any error message or crash - at my place it apparently worked normally. However, I have a German XP and Polish is not defined as a substitution language for applications that are not Unicode enabled (although I do not believe that that would make any difference in this case). Strange.

Hope this info helps a bit.

@Borut
Now I am ashamed because you're right about interchange thing.
Making it in proper order solves crash but "Type mismatch" is still there.

Edited: Solved temporary: now 311 is problematic - even if I use clear Reference.lng file.

I cannot reproduce any error. It might have been the fuzzy match. I removed the fuzzy match anyway (because it is slow and the new word lists are much much better  ), so that might fix it.

Brutal crash by clicking on the orange suggestion

Post by Borut »

There is apparently a reproducible crash situation, which otherwise has nothing to do with other issues in this thread (I guess). I believe that the following steps are sufficient for what I have just experienced:

0. Use an adapted TBX file (I used the one for hr-HR).
1. In ITT, enter in filter something for what only orange suggestions come up (i.e. from the upper file) - in my case it was "Transfer rate"
2. Click on the first suggestion.

=> Everything goes away... :? "Would you like to report this to MS?"

Hmm, this is currently almost a show stopper, but hopefully easy to reproduce, debug and handle.

Thanks,

Also a blocker for me, definitely!
Under Win7 64bit and Win8 64bit, reproducible every time when i try to select a suggestion from MicrosoftTermCollection-DE-XY.tbxy

Maybe with all of my MLS related datafiles?

I am writing this further based on my environment (not ParoX). I experienced some variations in the meantime:

a) When there are white and orange suggestions, double clicking on white works as expected, while double clicking on orange ones does nothing (XY lives happily further, apparently with no effect at all, and nothing copied from the list).
b) When there are only orange ones, I have also seen hangs with some 45% CPU usage, but nothing more of XY on the screen, only on the task bar and in process manager (was experimenting with only one file and not two of them, as initially).

Very strange. I would tip onto merging process and some pointers or such a thing.

Still no luck.

BTW, single clicking is enough. Or would you say double clicking is more natural for this?

When small lists are used (for instance the same small file defined as both WordList1 and 2), then it neither hangs, nor does anything on click and lives further. Maybe it has to do with the number of items in the file?? :? Mystery, but a bad one.

PS. Yup, I know, single is enough, but I somehow do both in this case, sometimes single, sometimes double (especially when nothing happens :) ).

Let me know if it still happens with the next version.

Code: Select all

v11.70.0117 -2012-11-19 20:48
+ ITT: Various improvements including a Sticky Notes section at the
bottom (your personal notes are read from and written to a file
ITT.txt), and a new menu "Edit" with added keyboard shortcuts.
This is strictly speaking not a bug, but a design issue: I am working on a laptop with a 16:9 screen format and a resolution of 1366x768. It appears not to be possible to adjust ITT window size. Even if I make my taskbar disappear, I still am not able to see and use the whole ITT window. :x

Unfortunately yes, mostly in that a click on the orange suggestions brings up a hang, which has to be killed via task manager.
