Woops,
Luckily I had kept the PowerDesk 8 installation exe and the registration code so I could reinstall it.
XYplorer is a non-starter for zip files apparently and PD is very good. The main reason I installed XY was so I could add notes/comments to the hundreds of Program Files folders so that I would know what some of the odder ones were for. PD only allows notes/comments for files.
I have been reorganizing some 3000 photographs stored on various computers over the years. PD's drag and drop for folders and files is more positive than XY's.
For my money, an upgrade to PD to allow folder notes/comments and it would be ideal for me. Unfortunately PD development in Avanquest is very much on the back burner so I will have to live with two Windows 7 file managers (making sure I don't run the two at once!)

Donald? ':kidding:' did not appear in your quote on my screen; no hard feelings. My "...positive..." may have been subjective. While I shuffled my folders and files around (drag and drop) in XY quite often files/folders did not finish up where I meant them to or did not move at all. In PD things were noticeably better and gave me greater confidence (Feng Shui?)admin wrote:Positive in the Feng Shui sense, or what?
Possibly my shaky hand or XY is working with a different mouse (Microsoft 3000) resolution than PD, I have no idea.
In the meantime work on adding ZIP support (see how PD does it!)...

No idea how shaky your hand is, but XY's drag and drop has no record of being shaky at all.pjbw wrote:Donald? ':kidding:' did not appear in your quote on my screen; no hard feelings. Even if Don wants, he can't - just the settings would require 4 additional 27" screens.highend wrote:Let's hope he's not^^

If you sell on any of the online marketplaces i.e. eBay, Amazon, Play etc then I would really recommend you look at Packing Partner by AimCo software. This software extracts the sales info from the site and prints it out for you, lets you print address lablels, picking lists and plenty more. It just works, gives me exactly what I want and if I need anything extra then Andrew can create some script to do it. I know it doesn't sound the most exiting bit of software and my desciption isn't that great but it saves so much time and prevents simple errors.
This software is by a one man band like XYP and like XYP is all the better for it.
Andrew has just released a new version which I am about to try out.
You can trial it.
