I would find simple text searching and editing capabilities in the current Preview tab very useful. I would actually use it on a daily basis to search text in text-based code files and do simple editing tasks (e.g. edit ini or xml files).

A typical example where I miss searching in the text Preview tab: I do a file search through text files with the Contents filter set. Then, when I go through the results list with the Preview tab open I'd obviously like to see the position(s) in the file where the search word occurs.

Actually, I use the text Preview tab quite a lot, so I wouldn't mind if it was a bit more powerful.


off topic: I'd also find it useful to have an additional icon on the right side of the preview window that just toggles 'show metadata' (instead of having to open the context menu by clicking the orange icon. well, ok, it's just an additional click). Kind of like the blue icon right above the orange one that actually toggles the info panel.
