Advanced thumbnails and labels?

Post by ghost zero »

May I suggest adding advanced thumbnails and labeling? Similar to XnView browser--where we can add a variety of labels below the thumbnails without overlapping the thumbnail.

XnView does advanced thumbnails very well. Here are some screenshot examples...

Image

note the order of the data presentation in the screenshot example...

THUMBNAIL
filename
date and time
file size
dimensions

- text is placed below the thumbnail
- after the filename, font size is smaller and a different color
- text is cropped as necessary to maintain tight thumbnail spacing and optimal screen usage

---

unfortunately, the recently added "tiles view" still doesn't really address these features optimally.

please add more customizations options to "tiles view" or add "advanced thumbnails labeling" options to make these screenshot examples possible.

+1 for this one. Also, the option to have no labels/captions displayed and choice of background colour i.e. no borders, no boxes, no text, just the pics.

Cool you ask. "to have no labels/captions displayed" is on my list for next week! The rest will come as well.

i don't like the dimensions info overlapping the thumbnails since XY 10.80. i don't like to have thumbnail images covered in any way. can we have an option to show this info under the thumbnails again?

You can already turn off the display of dimensions in thumbnail options !?

They always overlapped, only you don't noted it because they were not transparent.

BTW, I will add means to add a number of info below the thumbnails soon...

any chance we can specify the spacing between thumbnails in version 11.x? currently there is a lot of excess spacing. i would like to pack thumbnails very close to maximize screen usage. i suggest let us configure the spacing to as low as 0.

#374 View | Columns | Shrink Name Column (Ctrl+Shift+Numpad Subtract)

This will also affect the thumbnails horizontal space.

i tried that but it has no effect on thumbnail spacing. besides, the spacing for thumbnails should be a separate attribute from name column spacing. because thumbnails are images and names are text.

It is independent. The command has different functionality depending on the context.

Please post a screenshot showing where you think space is wasted.
