And please don't hate me for suggesting you so much work

Use generic icons but only network : It seems it sometimes does it also for local browsing. For what I've seen, seems to be after I went to a network places, turns to generic icons as it should but from then on its all generic everywhere!

Folders aren't removed from the tree when they are deleted/moved, even when this happens inside XY.
ie. create a folder, its added to tree. Remove it, it's still there, gotta click on it to "refresh" the tree (allthough it does more than just remove that missing folder, and that's cool

but what if it did it on its own when folders are removed?

)

When we create a category in catalog, why only ask for the name? Why not all properties (like for items) ?

I tried only the above out of the two and cannot reproduce it. When i delete a folder it goes off from the tree on its own.

Also, I agree with Jacky's suggestion on categories.

When I delete a folder from the Tree it goes. When deleted from the List it remains in the Tree till clicked or Tree refreshed.

- Auto-refresh active?
- Local or network locations?

Auto-refresh is on. No network - all local drives.

Suspecting that there was something strange in my .INI file, I moved it away and restarted XY which created a default unregistered .INI (Auto-refresh enabled). Deleted folder still remains in the Tree.

It would be interesting to get feedback from other blissful XY users

EDIT: the next upload will have a little experimental change (not mentioned in history). Let's see if it fixes it...

I have XP SP2, too. Mystery...

Normal paths or (subfolders of) special folders like "My Documents", "Desktop"...?

Nah, all the most common locations, nothing special. Just tried C: and G: and same effect there, regardless whether to Recycle Bin or (my usual) bypass of the Bin.
No problem with <ahhhh>Windows Explorer</ahhhh> so it's not system wide.

hmmm well, just tried again, with 5.00.0058 and still there.
Ok I thik I got it, seems to be because I have this in my INI:
NoWatchDuringFileOp=1

But I couldn't find where in the Config to change that

and if I remember what it is, it's so XY doesnt do many refresh over & over while there are many files moving/being copied/etc; so
(a) I kinda still want that, could you maybe add a refresh once the FileOp is done when this flag is on?
(b) maybe it's an INI flag only, no GUI, just thought of that now

About generic icons though, I dunno. Once I went to a network location, icons are generic everywhere

BTW doing my tests I though that the context menu on blank area of the Tree DOES have fav folders, fav files & system specials as long as there are no fav folders, that's just to torture me right?

    + Here's a new INI file trick (aka hidden feature):
        [Settings]
        NoWatchDuringFileOp=1
      If NoWatchDuringFileOp=1 then auto-refresh is suspended while file 
      operations are going on. Reason: consecutive refresh activities do 
      slow down the file operation itself. This is notable especially on 
      large folders and when moving many bytes.

Set it to 0 and the issue is gone.

hehe... yeah i got it, but as I said I like this hidden feature

So, having a "refresh folder" done automaticaly by XY after the FileOp is done would be nice, but if not I'll have to keep clicking on the damn folders, cause having the multi-refresh on huge delete/move is something way more annoying (plus it slows down the whole thing), and I do such fileop regulary so...

BTW what I meant for generic icons (but kinda forgot to really say it

) is, I tried deleting my XYplorer.ini and use it "fresh", and it does the same. So it's not INI related for this one.

Ok, I improved the refreshing when this option is active, so the folder-not-disappearing issue is definitely history.
And: I made this "hidden" feature visible. Added option to "Suspend refresh during file operations" to Configuration/Advanced.
