NEFs from D700 show as bad image icon

Just to bring the discussion back.

You mean using the new tweak or generally?

The "slowness" is when it builds the thumbs. Each thumb takes an age to appear.

Just to confirm I have done the correct thing. I Edited the ini file and popped the tweak in the new line that was created in the ini file

I Then "reset" the Config under Preview Formats and Ticked NEF, I also Ticked Super Fast Thumbs and Show Thumbs for Non Pictures [/i]

When I browse to a folder with just 100 NEF's (D300) it takes 3Minutes 45 Seconds to build all the 100 thumbs and display them (I know that doesn't sound like a long time but just try a stare at a screen for 3 minutes - doing nothing - and see how long it feels :-) ). In comparison doing the same with the "same" 100 JPGS takes 7 seconds.

And Windows explorer takes 45seconds to display the same 100 NEF's.

Is there anything else that I can try to help / give feedback.

I really can't judge as I just saw thumbs being built in that post.

If I switched off the tweak (Delete the dng,nef), Untick the NEF in Preview Formats , Untick Show thumbs for Non Picture in Thumbnails will I be "back" to before the tweak ? and If thats a comparable situation then it also takes 3minutes 45s (I rebuld to a larger thumb to "refresh" the cache)

It also seems to me, vusually - no scientific proof, that it build the first 10 or so much more quickly and then slows down into a steady pace.

OK, thanks. That was just to rule out something.

Now I wished I could explain that but I cannot. For all I know I'm using the same routines as Explorer/Shell, so I really don't know why XY is slower than WE here.

All I can give you now is the tip to use the thumbnails cache. So the work has to be done only once.
