"Home position" for Toolbar

Post by aurumdigitus »

Under the dual pressure of reduced staff and end of year approaching have succumbed to a scrolling TB and added many buttons. In the wee hours this morning it came to me it would be very convenient to set a "home position" for the toolbar and a command to get there.

(Am aware that it not hard to create a menu that would lead to multiple TB's but still prefer the above.)

So you would sacrifice a button or a KS just to home the toolbar?

A button would have to be made static as if it scrolled out of view that would defeat the whole purpose. A KS would be fine. A near fantasy idea would be to tuck some inconspicuous element into the user interface; maybe a small square next to the Background Bar that like it has an option not to show for those who don't want/need it.

To the naysayers who would argue against the concept of a "home positiom" and say use a script that can load multiple TB's, the principle advantage of this approach is that buttons can be popped on and off the toolbar as the need arises without the need to constantly manipulate a text file.

I support the idea of a command/KS to set TB at home, because after having scrolled, it is difficult to remember position of a particular button.
For me, a simple command/KS, no need anything else.

I could bring myself to waste a command ID for this. You'll find a "Scroll Home" command at the end of the overflow dropdown.

That's excellent! As always carefully constructed to please nearly everyone.

Command ID ? - Re: "Home position" for Toolbar

Upgraded to Beta just to get this feature which works great. But now when trying to turn it into a KS can not find the assigned command ID in Help|Make List of Commands. Any ideas? :?

No KS for this. Menu only.

Apparently not - pity.

Still half a loaf is better than none and not to forget the wish was granted virtually instantaneously! Thank you ... :D

The toolbar is a mouse-only interface anyway. A KS would be odd.
