Another name I'm currently playing with (also my own idea): FilesAtWork.

(Yes, I own the domain as well.)

Personally I think you will have a hard time manifesting FL as an acronym for FlexyFiles. Odds are people will either call it FF or Flexy if they don't want to type the entire thing.

Kinda excludes us who just have FilesAtPlay or FilesAtHome
Plus it doesn't give any clue as to function.

Hope you have found a cheap domain registrar for all these names...I use GoDaddy.com for my two domains.

Agreed! That's why abbrev needs to be rather unique.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Yes, might be. But that's really a case for swarm intelligence. Some abbreviation will emerge after a certain time.

Another potential obfuscation: In the States FL is the official Post Office abbreviation for Florida.

Come on, XY is the male chromosome set, and a famous German TV show, and many other things (among them a file manager). So what. Acronyms have to function in context only.

Just wanted to say FlexyFiles has grown on me a bit since my initial reaction, Don.

If you work with the branding and font you could create a 'hidden' diamond between the x and y, and then play on the phrase "Diamond in the Rough." Similar to the arrow in FedEx.

I will miss the rather strong branding we have been able to build under XY (the icon and XYS for instance), but in time the same could be achieved with FlexyFiles.

Yes, there are possibilities. I'm playing with the idea to mirror the Y just like in the current icon. (See image)

Another possibility would be to rubber-stretch the lower part of the "y" -> flexibility... but that might be too obvious.

Maybe Don wants to start fresh but I'd see making it FleXYfiles to tie back into the existing name a bit more...and use the same XY as current in graphic fonts.

Point - primus: Yes XY does represent the male sex chromosomes in humans but that is by no means pervasive across all animal species.

Point - secundus: XY is not an acronym; it is a literation.

OK, trial secundus:

1) XY is commonly associated with the human male sex chromosomes.

2) Abbreviations, acronyms, and literations are usually expected to function in context only.

I think this would be difficult to pull off without it looking too silly. I still feel FlexyFile is a bit on the silly/cartoon-y side, but it's not a negative unless you really push it and run with that. In otherwords, it doesn't need help being more silly/cartoon-y. :P

Personally, I think that's an awful font. I was imagining more of a blocky sans serif font with a medium to thick face.

First thanks to your support for FiloSophia, SkyFrontier

If Filosophia has not your taste, admin, what do you say for FlyFiles (shorter than FlexyFiles)
or even FlyXfiles ?
