I thought they were useless since we can't customize them to translate the app into another language... No, I'm not being offensive. Nor sarcastic. I just really wasn't expecting to see such a hint in such unusual place... WHICH IS GOOD, I meant in the first place! XYploring makes file managing a treasure hunting...Did you note that the button has a tooltip? Sometimes it's good to read them...

Re: Scripting: new SC "notepad"
...not that I'm sure I can continue this discussion here, but here it goes (since it started here):
But... is there a way to assign a CKS and quick run such trial script without even opening the edit box nor having to attach such trial script into another "test" UDC, so we can have a 1) way to quickly edit the thing as it now currently is and 2) quickly test it without even to bother with remembering/scroll a number of previously assigned CKSs? That way we could have a single key combo to remember: the RUN SCRIPT one!
Thanks, Don - thanks again!
P.S.: attempted to advertise on GaD one more time, this time using a discreet URL embedded in name... and they blocked my comment again! Won't give another chance. Sorry.
First, THANKS!v9.30.0028 - 2010-07-31 17:48
+ Menu Scripting: Added command "Run Script..." which opens a
multiline edit box where you can enter a script and run it.
The command is near identical to "Try Script..." but does not
enforce Step Mode. Both commands share the same remembered
contents when the dialog is opened again, and also the same last
size and position.

Re: Scripting: new SC "notepad"
Hehe, I'm still in a blissful state of shock that this probably most obvious and most expected of all scripting related commands had been missing all the time. Wow.
But I don't understand what you are asking me.

Re: Scripting: new SC "notepad"
If I do this, I got the edit window instead of running the script in a test session.Tools > Customize Keyboard Shortcuts > Category: Scripting > Run Script...?
I'd like to RUN it a bit faster using a CKS (universally set to test scripts, whatever they are stored in "Run Script") and EDITING it via Scripting> Run Script, as "Run Script" currently opens the edit box THEN runs it properly said.

Are you sure that we share the same part of the solar system? It seems to me that what you want is impossible around my neighborhood.SkyFrontier wrote:If I do this, I got the edit window instead of running the script in a test session.Tools > Customize Keyboard Shortcuts > Category: Scripting > Run Script...?

Like Don, I obviously don't quite get your request. Do you mean that you've *previously* entered a script in the Run or the Try Script dialog and you'd like a command to run the *remembered* script that can be bound to a CKS, without needing to open either the Run or the Try Script dialogs?SkyFrontier wrote:If I do this, I got the edit window instead of running the script in a test session.Tools > Customize Keyboard Shortcuts > Category: Scripting > Run Script...?

Thanks anyway! It's a few less clicks than what it was used to be until today.

Just while it is there, of course, since it will not be remembered on next restart.Do you mean that you've *previously* entered a script in the Run or the Try Script dialog and you'd like a command to run the *remembered* script that can be bound to a CKS, without needing to open either the Run or the Try Script dialogs?

I know I was expecting a bit much... kind of splitting a command to answer differently to 2 different inputs. Well... I still fight for a better world for us to live... there must be HOPE for us on a place or two. IN THIS SAME UNIVERSE, Don!Are you sure that we share the same part of the solar system? It seems to me that what you want is impossible around my neighborhood.

You mean I parsed your original post in only two tries?SkyFrontier wrote:nas8e9:Just while it is there, of course, since it will not be remembered on next restart.Do you mean that you've *previously* entered a script in the Run or the Try Script dialog and you'd like a command to run the *remembered* script that can be bound to a CKS, without needing to open either the Run or the Try Script dialogs?
Seriously, I don't seem to be the only one who has some trouble "getting" your posts on the first try. Could you try to condense and simplify your posts so that we don't have to respond twice and read, well, *several* times? Thanks in advance.

Re: Scripting: new SC "notepad"
nas8e9,
Believe me - no matter how hard I try, I *always* end with similar problems. Even among my "equals". Call that a "personal feature", "challenge" or anything like that. I just hate it.
I will do (more?) my best (MORE?!), I promise.

That's why in most cases, I've given up on trying to follow those posts...and my compliments to those who are able to respond properly!nas8e9 wrote:Seriously, I don't seem to be the only one who has some trouble "getting" your posts on the first try. I've had an easier time understanding some from obvious non-English speakers...sorry!
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Sorry, people, and hope you don't get that pissed about that.
I am only trying to contribute as much as I can (and within the time I can have for this, also - I wasn't posting for a long time, as you can see), but I'm not here to disturb anyone nor pollute the forums with bad english.
Feel free to tell me to shut. I can live with that.

Re: Scripting: new SC "notepad"
I'm not suggesting that you not post, but rather that you try and make your posts a bit easier for all to follow, as that will only be to your benefit in getting a correct and proper response quicker...remember that some of our most valuable members don't speak English as their first language so by making it more comprehendable, it'll expedite replies and take less posting by both you and them, right?SkyFrontier wrote:Sorry, people, and hope you don't get that pissed about that.

In real estate, it's "Location; location; location" -- here, I'd suggest "simplify; clarify; identify" maybe...
