Some possible bugs in the new "List Management"

Menu Tools: add submenu "List Management" where you can manage lists like History, Favorites, Address Bar, Name, Location, etc...

WOW!! I like it. It looks as if the editing is going to be excellent.

I haven't investigated in detail but editing the history there appear to be a couple of strange effects:

1. Two entries are checked in the list, I think it's the current entry and the entry that has been moved / edited, but not sure.

2. An entry is duplicated. I think it is if I move / edit the current entry it appears again at the top of the list.

Both would appear to related to the current entry being added or checked when the edit function is exited. We're going out for the rest day so I won't get a chance to check further until later.

So now...let's see how it performs!

1) In History -> Is there still a limit of 32 max? Because I was able to add more than that...
2) At the risk of sounding like a very spoiled kid, I could see a potential new option -> ability to move/copy entry to another list...so a history item could be relocated to address bar list....or...maybe that's easy enough to do by other existing ways....just wanted to throw it out...

Good grief! I didn't even finish my prior post before you added the Sort and Clear functions that I had thought of asking about! Now THAT'S what happens when you have a GREAT developer behind the product! Love it!!!!

Oh, right. Hmm, should I tolerate this or keep the limit? I think I should rather be strict here and make the maximum configurable elsewhere.

I'd personally prefer the ability to pick the limit nbr elsewhere...so that someone may only want 10 or 15 entries but others may want 40...I'd pick a reasonable max limit on what user max could be...either 32, or 40?

Well, I did say I was acting spoiled, right? Unlike some who may just ask in a more demanding manner...
At least you got my idea of where you might develop it further, so that's fine for now....

Just grabbed the .0045 vers with Favorites in List Mgmt...
Any particular reason why Up/Down/Sort are grayed out for these?

Yes: they are sorted already in the moment of adding them. Of course, now I could remove that service. But where would a new favorite go then? To the end of the list? Or to the top of it?

I'd only had a couple of entries in Favorites so didn't realize that they were already in order...however, should I add a new entry to Fav's via L-M, at that point, they then get out of sort order it seems...so that's the situation that I'm addressing, ok?

Addendum: Leaving the original add method as is makes sense...just how to handle the new way of adding...??

Try it: it will be auto-ordered after you press OK.

Ok... guess the test I did used "bad" data, so that would explain it..
I did an add in L-M but let the default "New" value be used...and that one did not get resorted...but a legit drive spec does get resorted...didn't try that before I posted...at least I used an existing forum thread!

Still I do wonder...would anyone ever want entries in other than ascending sort order? Using LM would allow users to decide how they want it sequenced...but would then force another process for those who want it as now...

In the case of Favorites: soon the new fav panel will be there, where you can order everything freely; so this old Favorites list (which will stay parallely to the new fav panel (or however I'll call it -- suggestions welcome: e.g. quick folders, flat tree, quick favs, fast favs... )) is okay with a forced auto-sort.

I just had another cool idea for LM (not unsimilar to your spoiled suggestion): Export/Import to/from *.txt files! So you could easily load a new set of favorites; or you could save your complex search patterns (I'll add that to LM soon!), and email them to another user, who then can easily load them... well?

Not sure how useful it would be. However, since I use different ini files a lot it may be an advantage to copy a favourites list from one ini file to another.

I definitely like the new additions to LM!
I'd maybe use the ":" instead of "," as delimeter, so that it would be..
"Find Files: Name"
that's just a preference of mine...
