Re: Tree for both panes, one on both edges of the screen?

Post by j_c_hallgren »

Any good reason why this was a new thread instead of a post to the DP thread? It was already discussed somewhat at http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic. ... 283#p40283

Ok, so that was not about where the dual tree should be but it's the more appropriate thread for it, I believe.

Well, having a tsunami of new questionable threads was always a bad step for this. But the recent "post-and-delete" behavior followed by such a comment is clear, plain and sure trolling. Is this the kind of "popularity" you're really seeking, fella? I believe you know the way annoyance is treated over here, in particular, heh?
Just a friendly word of caution. But if such kind of stuff persists, I'd cast a poll over you.

I agree, this is extremely annoying behavior. I'll vote YES if there is a poll that says "delete this user".

It was that "|tree| pane | pane |tree|" that did it for me...I said to myself: "hummmm, I'm sure I've seen this exact same thing before...where can it be?" and then couldn't find it...and the thread that I suspect it was in before, it wasn't there anymore...so that's what prompted my initial reply and unfortunately, that was not just an isolated occurance.

Let it be perfectly clear: I have nothing whatsoever against TsunamiZ, just not thrilled/pleased with this approach since it makes research and keeping track of threads more difficult, and can actually be detrimental to his request...ok, so maybe the requestor changed their mind and no longer want that "wish"...fine...then simply post to it a simple stmt saying so...and the tread will most likely be dropped/ignored unless someone else has the same wish later, in which case, it might be reopened and in some cases, provide a running start for the wish.

And if there were a poll re this user staying, believe it or not, I'd vote to retain him! Why? Because i think it's preferable to deal with a user like this on/on our sandbox/forum than other places on web...and I'm sure we can reach an understanding of how we as a group prefer things to be done here.

For me it was the address bar below tabs, but I also knew I had responded.

In addition, my problem with this type of behavior is that it seems to be trying to get around any resistance or questioning there might be to the suggestion. Instead of having a discussion it comes off as "oh that wasn't the reaction I was hoping to get.. I'll start a new thread and hope it's more favorable."

OK, do we really need 4 "delete this topic" threads?
http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4889
http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4893
http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4866

Once is a mistake and twice is acceptable. But someone who goes around doing this 4 times, why do you expect anyone to believe you? And you clearly dont care about others who have responded in those posts. You seem to only care about your requests and create new ones if they don't seem alright to us.
You were alright all through, I dont understand what went wrong with you suddenly after 1st april? Are you really TsunamiZ?

lol april 1st! i posted this in another topic...

to clarify: i only did the "delete this topic" to 4 of my topics. 2 of them i no longer want. 2 of them were because i made edits to--but i already edited them back due to some of you hounding me about it. so that is reasonable enough. they're topics written by me and i choose if i still want them or not. if that still bothers you, maybe you should act like you have a life and mind your own business.

I just checked all four of the threads that serendipity posted links to...and as of the time of this post, all four still have "delete this topic" as title and first post! Explain that, if you can...
TsunamiZ wrote: they're topics written by me and i choose if i still want them or not.
You get to make that choice AFAIC only until someone replies to it! Once that happens, the rules change...and as we've repeatedly tried to explain, the only proper ways to undo the thread at that point are to post a new reply to thread -or- a addendum to the OP.
if that still bothers you, maybe you should act like you have a life and mind your own business.
Well, to some of us, this forum IS a part of our life and we care what happens here and the only person who can tell me to "MYOB" is Don.

As you predicted, we see in http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4904 yet a third vers of this same exact thread!

And as I stated in the poll thread quoted below, I have completely reversed my opinion that I posted above:
j_c_hallgren wrote:Addendum as of April 5 at 3am EDT:
Based on the reply given in http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic. ... 398#p45398, I've now changed my opinion on this and have given up as well...but unfortunately, the way the poll was created, I'm unable to change my prior compassionate vote so please consider this my official "vote" to exclude him from forum as well.
It seems this 'delete/repeat' behavior is incorrigible and thus I hereby regretfully suggest and recommend that no one reply to the newest and third duplicate thread in any format, since he obviously doesn't care what we say as evidenced by the following (posted here to make sure IT doesn't vanish):
TsunamiZ wrote:TEMPORARY NOTE: I'm helping Don clean things up by shaking off the flaming posts from the old thread. So I'm deleting the spammed topic and replacing it with this clean one. Yes, that will bring the deleted count to 5 but Don should be deleting those when he gets back from vacation--so quit obsessing over them. If you can't help yourself and still feel compelled to ramble on about my deleted topics, then do so in the old "delete this topic" thread but keep this one clean. If you have a related post that you want to keep from the old thread then you can repost it here. I don't care if you support this request or not but you're advised to be civil and stay on topic when replying to this one.
I think that everyone who knows me can see that I have tried as best as I could to be polite until it reached a point where that became almost impossible to do...and once again, not saying that I don't pay attention to my fellow users but I'm not going to have a user who can't follow common/simple forum etiquette tell me what to do.
