ALT GR - Return

Post by ReviewPilot »

Hi,
A bit late, but happy New Year

Found no topic related to the following issue:
In Windows Explorer, if I select some folders or files (more than one), pressing "ALT GR - Return" results in opening the properties of selected items. And well, it shows the combined filesize, attributes etc..

In XY there seems to be a (intended??) bug that it only results in showing the properties of the last selected file or folder..
This is especially disturbing if I want to select several folders all together and change attributes for all of them (using the file/folder properties window)..

You can probably get that window by right-clicking on one of the selected items and choosing Properties, but XY's trigger works on selected item it seems. Additionally, if you wanna change attributes on many items at one, why not simply do it directly from within XY, e.g. tab Properties of the Info Panel ?

..because I'm faster witzh my method :D It's way faster (for me) to get rid of possible unneccessary mouse movements. And I do that by selecting the intended folders and pressing the shortcut. Otherwise try to imagine a drawn line for my neccessary mouse moves.. takes time and accuracy..

hmm, could you be so kind and instruct me how to effectively change the compressed-atribute of selected folders in the info panel? I don't get it.. :|

Oh, I'm afraid that isn't possible. AFAIK the only attributes XY can actually change are the basic 4 (Read-only, Hidden, Archive & System), that's why only those checkboxes are enabled. So for others you'll have to still use the Shell Properties window...

(Maybe one day XY will add more to its list (not sure what it would take to add compress and/or encrypt), and even some attrstamp scripting command so you could even have a script to do all the work for you, as is possible now with dates. That way, you could have one KS to (un)set/switch attributes automatically...)

hm,
thanks for the answer jacky..

Again to the initial problem.. Selecting more than one file, should the AltGr-Return return the properties-window for both files together, as in WindowsExplorer?
Or, in other words, is this a bug or an unsupported detail? I'm not sure how to interpret this atm..

Cheers, RP

Unsupported detail or bug -- it's on my list and I basically know how to do it, but it's a bit tricky, so I never gave it the sufficient priority.
