Custom thumbnail dimensions?
How about add an option to let us specify custom thumbnail dimensions? Instead of just choosing from the default values.

You've started wishing for things that are pretty well documented between the wiki, the forums, and the actual help documents.
How about you just use XY for a while and give this flood of wishes a break?

Agree with that! The userid join date shows as 2005 yet today has been acting as a new user of last day or so...was wondering what's going on....TheQwerty wrote:You've started wishing for things that are pretty well documented between the wiki, the forums, and the actual help documents.

Addendum: As of now, I count 23 new threads by TsunamiZ in just the last few hours! WTF?
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Whats going on? Today is the 5th anniversary of the devastating Indian Ocean Tsunami.j_c_hallgren wrote:Agree with that! @TsunamiZ: don't take this personally, just that your posts were flooding XY forums like crazy.

Re: Custom thumbnail dimensions?
Maybe that's some sort of connection there as since I last posted in this thread, four new ones have appeared! We're up to 27 threads by one userid in less than 9 hrs! This is getting ridiculous!serendipity wrote:Whats going on? Today is the 5th anniversary of the devastating Indian Ocean Tsunami.

I reviewed some of the threads posted in 2005 when TsunamiZ first joined and they exhibited some minor signs of troll behavior...this current situation has all the markings of such and that's not a good thing...so I'd suggest that this user restrain themselves now while they still can...
Yes, maybe some of the points raised in these threads may well be valid but it's certainly not helping the case by making a PITA of yourself...and as stated, a lot of this is already covered in readily available documentation...so I'd also suggest a day spent reading before writing, ok?
Update: In last few min, yet another thread appeared! Now 28!

but i only just began using xyplorer today. its been over 4 years since i last tried this program and a lot of things have changed [it used to be named TrackerV3]. i did look through and experimented with the program a lot before requesting. ive had experience with using other hardcore file managers so i really know what to look for and it was easy for me to make specific requests based on my file managing experience and features that ive come across in other file managers. but don't worry, the tsunami is pretty much over since i think i've made all my noted suggestions.
in regards to my topic, i have not seen a way to do this in the options. can someone point out how?

This was recently discussed in this thread: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4342TsunamiZ wrote:in regards to my topic, i have not seen a way to do this in the options. can someone point out how?
and also in the wiki http://88.191.26.34/XYwiki/index.php/IN ... ails_Sizes as posted by serendipity in his post therein.
A quick search should have found this info...all we are saying is that you do, maybe, up to 10-15 min of research before posting a new thread...that's what I do...actually, before creating a new thread, I often will spend up to a hour researching even though I spend hours here watching this forum so I recall seeing a lot of posts..

Re: Custom thumbnail dimensions?
Once again, was it really necessary to make (as I count it) 30 separate thread requests in just one day?TsunamiZ wrote: ive had experience with using other hardcore file managers so i really know what to look for and it was easy for me to make specific requests based on my file managing experience and features that ive come across in other file managers. but don't worry, the tsunami is pretty much over since i think i've made all my noted suggestions.
I'm not speaking for Don but I really don't think you made any friends here by doing this, and may have in fact made the opposite...I've seen a handful of other users actually banned from this forum over my time here and don't want you to suffer the same fate but it could happen as this overwhelming tide of requests at one time may just irritate Don enough to react in a way you may not desire...instead, I would have grouped a handful (maybe 5 at most) of closely related items in one thread and posted that every two weeks or so...spread it over time and you'd have a much better reaction on any forum, I'm pretty sure...that's just my $.02.

Re: Custom thumbnail dimensions?
i think you are overreacting a bit much. so i'll elaborate some more for your sake.
another reason you saw so many posts from me from yesterday is because i'm compressing the time it takes me to switch to a new program. i'm considering switching from my old file manager to xyplorer. but in order to make an accurate and swift comparison, i needed to get up and running on xyplorer as soon as possible. i'm not new to hardcore file managers. so i needed to get xyplorer at least configured to the same level as my previous file manager. i have other work that i'm obligated to do in the coming days so i don't have the luxury of spreading my xyplorer decision casually out over time. basically i'm compelled to finish this decision soon.
i understand that acting so fast and taking most of my actions in one day may seem a bit odd and raise some suspicions, but i hope my explanations have more than clarified any misunderstandings. i'm a person of high standards and therefore i also participate very actively with feedback for programs that i use. hopefully we all can benenfit from each others ideas and see xyplorer improve some more. i do appreciate the help i get from you guys and all my efforts and suggestions are with good intentions.
thanks and now i must get back on task...

Re: Custom thumbnail dimensions?
I don't think it was too much of an over reaction given the total nbr of posts...had it been a handful, I'd not been as hostile....but thanks for this reply!TsunamiZ wrote:i think you are overreacting a bit much. so i'll elaborate some more for your sake.
Ok...but you must realize that each FM also has their own set of features and so you may not find much compatibility in some areas or be able to have it work as your present FM does...XY likely has some things it doesn't and vice-versa...you'll have to determine whether XY as it essentially exists now will suffice...because even though Don sometimes makes updates at a very quick pace, it would still take him time to address your issues, if he chooses to...I still use another FM for some very specialized tasks that XY isn't yet as good at so you may end up using more than one FM.another reason you saw so many posts from me from yesterday is because i'm compressing the time it takes me to switch to a new program. i'm considering switching from my old file manager to xyplorer. but in order to make an accurate and swift comparison, i needed to get up and running on xyplorer as soon as possible. i'm not new to hardcore file managers. so i needed to get xyplorer at least configured to the same level as my previous file manager. i have other work that i'm obligated to do in the coming days so i don't have the luxury of spreading my xyplorer decision casually out over time. basically i'm compelled to finish this decision soon.
Yes, it most certainly rasied a rather huge "red flag" in my mind at least...and so you know, the likelyhood of having Don pay attention to a particular post/thread goes down the more of them there are...so you may well have done yourself a disservice by that nbr of items.i understand that acting so fast and taking most of my actions in one day may seem a bit odd and raise some suspicions, but i hope my explanations have more than clarified any misunderstandings. i'm a person of high standards and therefore i also participate very actively with feedback for programs that i use. hopefully we all can benenfit from each others ideas and see xyplorer improve some more. i do appreciate the help i get from you guys and all my efforts and suggestions are with good intentions.

Re: Custom thumbnail dimensions?
i believe the self evident benefits and merits of each suggestion is what would influence their consideration, regardless of who or when they were posted. a good thing is that most of the suggestions were basic interface tweaks and options to existing features. and as such, they are concisely worded. hopefully they should be relatively easy to implement and i have my fingers crossed that Don will add the polish. one of the primary things that draws me into a program is how nice the interface is and how flexible it is. i'm already liking xyplorer a lot more than my previous file manager and i think will switch to xyplorer. the frequency of updates also shows some promise.

Re: Custom thumbnail dimensions?
Hope you'll switch and I'd almost be willing to bet that we have a much more active forum than for any other FM! That's a good part of the reason I love XY so much!TsunamiZ wrote: i'm already liking xyplorer a lot more than my previous file manager and i think will switch to xyplorer. the frequency of updates also shows some promise.
And you say that freq of updates "shows some promise"?
