wow! Yes it's a bit different ;) Really impressive to see how greatly it has improved to become the best file manager ever 8)

About F4, it would be nice if you used the hourglass cursor (or whatever you want ;)) while refreshing it, cause when the tree is large it can take a few sec, and it would help to see when XY is done/ready ;)
It seems you never use it, not sure why but it's a nice thing you know :)

I use it sometimes, but my tree is very fast. :)

hehe.. actually I meant the hourglass, you never use it. The mouse cursor never changes even when refreshing the tree, performing search, etc even though thoose operations make XY "unresponsive" (i mean we can't change directory, preview some files, etc).
But the fact that we actually got the same cursor would imply that XY should be able to do so, since it didn't say it was busy.... Usual Windows behavior you know ;)

ps: forum still says & links to TV3; I even got redirected to the old URL (now 404) when logged in

Thanks, looks great!
Yes yes! This feature really has to be hyped! I like it better every day. Tip: make the NewItems folder a favorite folder, so you can easily send stuff there by "CopyTo" and recreate it directly in the next location. It's like a rebound! :)

Download the latest XYplorer BETA version (v4.40.0003, 28-nov-2005).

Code: Select all

v4.40.0003 - 28.11.05 12:10
    * The BETA package now is called XYplorer_4.40_BETA.zip. Full path:
      http://www.xyplorer.com/download/XYplorer_4.40_BETA.zip
+ I've thrown some hourglasses at the code. Time is on your side.
      Don't get cut.
! An hourglass freeze could happen under rare circumstances when
      creating a new file. Fixed.

Download the latest XYplorer BETA version (v4.40.0006, 29-nov-2005).

Code: Select all

v4.40.0006 - 29.11.05 11:31
+ If you change (copy to, delete, rename) anything in the "NewItems"
folder the "New Items" menu is now automatically updated.
    * Menu file, Restart App Without Saving: restart was done using the
default INI file (XYplorer.ini). Now it uses the current INI file.
      It's only logical...
! When startup path was patched via command line switch the selected
tab header was not adjusted. Fixed.
! Little confusion in mode/tab-wise column settings under certain
      circumstances. Fixed.

Download the latest XYplorer BETA version (v4.40.0007, 30-nov-2005).

Code: Select all

v4.40.0007 - 30.11.05 10:56
    * Menu View: new command "Cycle Toolbar & Tabs". Cycles through the
three useful combinations. If updating a previous installation you
have to click it 2 times to show your toolbar and tabs.
    * Ctrl+F12 got a new job:
        before: Show Browsing Tabs
        now: Cycle Toolbar & Tabs
    - Removed menu command "Show Browsing Tabs" from submenu "Browsing
      Tabs". Obsolete.
! Unwanted logical locking between Show Toolbar and Show Browsing
Tab, including a drawing glitch. Fixed with the above.
! Still confusion in mode/tab-wise column settings under certain
      circumstances. Fixed better.
    > List Settings Logic (column position, column width, sort order)
      (1) Each tab remembers its last settings (stored on tab change).
      (2) Each mode remembers its last settings (stored on mode change).
      (3) On tab change the new tab's remembered settings are applied.
      (4) On mode change (eg Browse to Find) within a tab the new mode's
          remembered settings are applied.

Mmmmmm, not too sure if I like it. Means an extra Ctrl+F12 to turn tabs on/off.

Yes, but focus on the advantages: easy access to all three states; only one shortcut to remember; shorter menu.
Instead of 2 times Ctrl+F12 you can also hold it down a while and have a 33% chance that key-repetition brings you where you want

Download the latest XYplorer BETA version (v4.40.0008, 30-nov-2005).

Code: Select all

v4.40.0008 - 30.11.05 17:46
+ Installation: added option to disable the creation of Start Menu
      shortcuts.
+ Lost your position in a monster list? Here's the solution, a new
mouse trick: dbl-click anywhere in the white of the list to zap the
currently focused item back into the viewport.
Note that any selections are lost caused by the first mouse-up of
      the dbl-click.
+ Menu Favorites, Special Folders: added Start Menu path.
