Should it not be "Menu | View - Update New Item"??
Yes, thanks. I corrected it.

Don't know about that, but definately great yeah! :D
And the folder thing is awesome, let you create a folder with its default subfolders & files, excellent to create a "new project" with the same usual stuff I used to copy manually. 8)

Download the latest TrackerV3 BETA version (v4.20.0073, 25-nov-2005).

Code: Select all

v4.20.0073 - 25.11.05 11:37
+ Menu Edit, New Items: added bitmaps to the menu items. I had to
shrink the 16x16 pixels file type icons to 13x13 to fit the menu
item height. But they ain't looking too bad.

Gonna grab this just for that then ;) And just out of curiosity, do you still have like the first (public) version ever?

Ok, the new website will not happen today; I got caught by this auto-refresh thingy... ... so we are still here for a little while.

Download the first XYplorer BETA version (v4.40.0000, 26-nov-2005).

Code: Select all

v4.40.0000 - 26.11.05 19:15
  *** TrackerV3 is now XYplorer!
      Pronounciation hint: X-Y-plorer.
Friends may say simply XY [ekswai].
    > Migration tip: run TrackerV3 a last time and uncheck (if checked)
        "Track..." in shell context menu
in Configuration, General. This will remove the registry entry.
Then start XYplorer and check it if you want the same service
      again.
! Certain auto-refresh irregularities when deleting a tree folder
      under Win2K. Fixed.
+ Configuration: redesigned the "Auto-refresh on file system changes"
section. Now you can specify in a very detailed way what you want
      to be watched and where.
For your interest as a programmer:
      - "Watch current path and subtree on: Local drives/Network drives"
        uses the FindFirstChangeNotification API.
      - "Watch non-current locations: Folders/Removable drives" uses the
        SHChangeNotify API.
Tip: if you are using the network a lot you might encounter
dramatic speed differences related to these settings.
Note that auto-refresh concerns exclusively changes triggered
from other processes. If you disable it completely, XYplorer
should still correctly update the display with regard to its own
file operations. I say should... some things might have slipt
      through...
+ Along with the above changes I rearranged the configuration window
a bit, adding an "Advanced" tab (hey, it's an Advanced File System
Explorer) for stuff that's either too adventurous for beginners or
not likely to be changed very often.

I assume there is no reason not to simply copy the ini file from TrackerV3 to XYplorer. That way I will get all my settings back.

With XPlorer not running, I copied the old INI file over to the new XYplorer install directory, and renamed it to XYplorer.ini. This worked fine.

The earliest I found is Tracker 1.50 from January 1998! It's, well, different from today's version, but you will recognize some basic traits. http://www.trackerv3.com/download/Track ... _Trial.zip
Note that this is only a trial version!

(EDIT: needs VB40032.DLL in the path; comes with the zip)
