Broken script blocks xyplorer

Post by tryforsure »

Hi,

with latest xyplorer 8.20.0021, Running the script "XYplorer Automatic Updater.xys" causes xyplorer to freeze. with a reset needed.

I think there is a problem with the script itself, being unable to communicate with some hardcoded server.

This script is blocking all of xyplorer and the program becomes unresponsive.

cheers

the problem is that the update script usually tries to update itself (and "common-jacky") from jackys server (http://88.191.26.34/XYscripts/download/). This one seems to be down currently which is why the script fails.

Until jacky gets the server up again, you can disable the update of "common-jacky" and the update script itself in the configuration dialog in the script. Afterwards at least XY can be updated without problems.

Well, I'll only take part of the blame! :P ;) Yes, server has been acting up again, and it might have been down. However, should that be the case, XY shouldn't freeze, crash on anything, but trigger a script error, stating that the host couldn't be reached or something similar. (And that's what I've seen happen in the past, when a command download or readurl wasn't successful.)

(In other news, the server/Scripts Library is working fine again.)

Yes this is what I would epect to happen as well, but xyplorer stops responding completely.

BTW, Nothing wrong with the script, which is excellent.
