Hi,
Recently i found myself using the properties tab and the To Clipboard menu a lot.
I found that it was quite long when you select an object to launch the contextual menu, go to To Clipboard then choose the one you want.
Then i thought it would be very practical to have buttons in the properties tab(In which i have i have a lot of free space most of the time) to complete some tasks like the To Clipboard or things like that.
I also discovered that when you select multiple items the properties tab show infos about the last one. DOnt you think it would be more useful to have infos about the group of selected items?
I even dream of creating my own Open With buttons in the properties tab depending on what extension is selected.
For mouse users it s very practical.
What do you think?
Martin

Re: Properties tab
I don't have a lot of time right now, but quickly: are you checked out the Toolbar? I'm pretty sure there's a button to copy the item's path or something, and right-click will popup the To Clipboard menu I believe.
As for your own Open With menu, have a look into POM (Portable Open With menu (which also has a TB button), see PFA: Portable File Association) it allows pretty much exactly what you seem to be looking for...

I know this has been mentioned here a few times at least, and as best I can recall, it's likely something that Don doesn't have full control over..but i could be totally wrong also.carmenm wrote:I also discovered that when you select multiple items the properties tab show infos about the last one. Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

I would imagine Don has control over everything.j_c_hallgren wrote:I know this has been mentioned here a few times at least, and as best I can recall, it's likely something that Don doesn't have full control over..but i could be totally wrong also.carmenm wrote:I also discovered that when you select multiple items the properties tab show infos about the last one. Sure, size can be made into a total, and that's on statusbar already. But dates or attributes, no way to "sum it all up" is there? Of course though, modifying it will have it applied to all selected items. I'm not sure what could be different there?

Re: Properties tab
WE could have kind of a different layout with different infos like
size
nb of files total
nb of dir
nb of lines (for code)
and the chckboxes could be used for all files like if you do properties in the explorer on a multiple selection.
And as i said we could imagine some more things like buttons for easy access to To Clipboard or OpenWith.
There are actually a lot of useful possibilities
