Default items in shell context menu
I really love that feature because it makes things A LOT faster. Yet sometimes i really need to get to an entry that is not in the default items. So i have to go in configuration, enable the feature, use the menu then disable it.
One thing that would be really great would be to have a modifier key to get the menu with all entries. Something lik Shift+ Right click.
What do you think?

Re: Default items in shell context menu
I like the idea, but Shift+RightClick would conflict with the multi-selection functionality of Shift+Left/RightClick.

Re: Default items in shell context menu
i tested a lot of modifier and the only one that seems to be not used is the Ctrl+shift+right mouse button but i am not sure i like it .
So i was wondering:
if we put all the non-default items in a submenu, will it still slow down the menu opening?
If it does that means we need another solution.
Maybe something like we can do with script. I mean an entry in the default menu that ifyou click it close the current and open the non default equivalent....
I dont know. I really think the modifier would be the best one but i cant find a free one.
What about an option to replace the ctrl+right or the shift+right? i dont use them
Now that i think about it it would be perfect if we could choose the action on the different modifiers. just like we cando for the double click on a tab.

Re: Default items in shell context menu
Oh I'm sure you'll find people who uses that one, since it does a Ctrl+Shift+Left Click + triggers the ctxt menu (aka a right-click) right away...carmenm wrote:i tested a lot of modifier and the only one that seems to be not used is the Ctrl+shift+right mouse button but i am not sure i like it .
Also, wouldn't the easiest idea be to add in the menu (when option "Default only" is enabled) a new item like "Shell context menu..." that, when clicked, would show the "full" context menu. That way it is an incredibly-fast XY menu, and only when user clicks on that item does the full/shell menu need to be gathered/created. -- I'll admit, I stole this idea from XY's right-D&D context menu, which does already perfectly work that way

Re: Default items in shell context menu
I got another idea, or two:
1) you can trigger the menu by right mouse, AND by keyboard (ctx menu key!): this would be a possible way to have both styles handy
2) right-click on icon: always full shell menu
right-click on name: depending on setting configuration

Re: Default items in shell context menu
1) you mean a right-click and the ctxt-menu key don't do the same/popup the same menu (and only one of them would "obey" the option) ? Cause I would not like that...admin wrote:I got another idea, or two:

2) nice little trick, allows us to always do what we want in one click. However, the advantage of the "extra-item" solution is that it is quite obvious even to the newbie (plus: works also on a keyboard-only setup), and also I wonder what that would mean on Thumbails View. I'm 100% Details myself, but I imagine one wouldn't like that a right-click on a thumbnail doesn't obey the option set in Config.
All that said: I like the right-click on icon trick, so I wouldn't mind seeing it implemented. Just maybe not on Thumbs View (and I could see both it & the extra item implemented...

Not bad either. 1 sec should be enough.Stefan wrote:3) long time (2sec) right click?
